Artificial Intelligence Research and Development
This book presents 34 original papers accepted for presentation at the 17th International Conference of the Catalan Association for Artificial Intelligence (CCIA 2014), held in October 2014 in Barcelona, Spain. The Catalan Association for Artificial Intelligence (ACIA), was created in 1994 as a non-profit association to promote cooperation among researchers from the Catalan-speaking artificial intelligence research community. Conferences are now held annually throughout the Catalan-speaking countries. The papers in this volume have been organized around different topics, providing a representative sample of the current state-of-the-art in the Catalan artificial intelligence community and of the collaboration between ACIA members and the worldwide AI community. For almost twenty years the Catalan Association of Artificial Intelligence (ACIA) has been promoting cooperation between researchers in artificial intelligence within the Catalan speaking community. Intelligent Decision Support Systems
This book, with invaluable contributions of Professor Franz Wotawa in chapters 5 and 7, presents the potential use and implementation of intelligent techniques in decision making processes involved in organizations and companies. It provides a thorough analysis of decisions, reviewing the classical decision theory, and describing usual methods for modeling the decision process. It describes the chronological evolution of Decision Support Systems (DSS) from early Management Information Systems until the appearance of Intelligent Decision Support Systems (IDSS). Knowledge Management for Health Care Procedures
The intersection between knowledge management, computer science, and health care de?nes a technological area of great interest that has not been operated properly. Within this area medical procedures on preventive, diagnostic, the- peutic, or prognostic tasks in health careplay an outstanding role. The mana- ment of this type of knowledge at the point of care includes four technological scopes, at least. The ?rst one establishes the languages and structures to r- resent health care procedural knowledge and the integration of these structures with medical information systems. The second consists of the development of - gorithms and computer science technologies for the operation of this knowledge. The third scope is concerned with the development of methodologies to m- imize the bene?t of these algorithms and methodologies. The fourth concerns the integration of the previous algorithms, technologies, and methodologies in computer science systems that allow the application of this knowledge at the point of need, harnessing health care of greater quality and e?ciency.
