Pese al importante papel que desempeñó en el contexto internacional durante el siglo pasado, al cine latinoamericano le sigue costando encontrar su lugar en el mundo, asfixiado por una hegemonía global de la industria anglosajona que se impone tanto comercialmente como en el circuito de festivales, y que apenas deja unas migajas para los países en vías de desarrollo.
