This book constitutes the strictly refereed post-workshop proceedings of the 12th International Workshop on Computer Science Logic, CSL '98, held as the Annual Conference of the European Association on Computer Science Logic in Brno, Czech Republic in August 1998. The 25 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected during two rounds of reviewing and revision. Also included are three reviewed invited papers. The papers span the whole scope of computer science logic and mathematical foundations and represent the state of the art in the area.

Since their inception, the Perspectives in Logic and Lecture Notes in Logic series have published seminal works by leading logicians. Die rasche Entwicklung interaktiver Technologien wie etwa des Internet ermöglicht immer mehr Menschen Zugang zu elektronischen Informationen. Designer interaktiver Systeme sind gefordert, die Navigation sowie die Vermittlung von Inhalten an der Benutzungsschnittstelle aufgaben- und benutzergerecht zu unterstützen. Die zweite Auflage der "Interaktiven Systeme" wurde daher auf den Gebieten Multimedia-Systeme und Virtuelle Welten vertieft (Kapitel 5). Darüber hinaus wurden die Kapitel zur strukturierten Entwicklung von Benutzerschnittstellen (Kapitel 7) und zur Evaluierung interaktiver Systeme erweitert (Kapitel 10). Damit konnte den letzten Entwicklungen auf dem Gebiet des aufgabenorientierten Entwurfs von Benutzungsschnittstellen sowie der Software-ergonomischen Bewertung Rechnung getragen werden.
