Postcolonial Literatures of Climate Change investigates the evolving nature of postcolonial literatures and criticism in response to the global, regional, and local environmental transformations brought about by anthropogenic climate change.
With a focus on the liminality of justice in trauma, this collective volume probes into the complex liminal status of victim-(forced) victimizer in trauma—a new opening well deserving critical attention—and scrutinizes how novelists tackle with literary representations the relevant issues of (in)justice in trauma. The contributions in this collection present theoretical re/visions of trauma and critical studies on trauma literature, ranging from field work on Cambodia’s genocide to literary analyses of AIDS literature, contemporary American literature, contemporary Canadian literature, and Indigenous writing in Canada.
Pragmatic Imagination and the New Museum Anthropology shifts museum anthropology’s relationship to the broader field from marginal to central by revealing the sophisticated transdisciplinary praxis (theory + practice) at the heart of current museum anthropologies. The book features international case studies that operate at the interfaces of critical museology, anthropology, material culture studies, art practice, and more. The theory of pragmatics proposes that meaning-making is collaborative and best evaluated through its impact in the world. Collectively the chapters in this volume evidence a ‘pragmatic imagination’ at work as museum anthropology practitioners ingeniously combine inventiveness (the possible) and practicality (the actual) in ways that drive the field forward. Defining museum anthropology as a pragmatic practice explicitly theorizes this work in order to mark its significance; demystify its processes of knowledge production; connect it more readily to debates within and beyond anthropology; and facilitate critique.

This collection examines what happens when one country’s experience of dealing with its traumatic past is held up as a model for others to follow. In regional and country studies covering Argentina, Canada, Japan, Lebanon, Rwanda, Russia, Turkey, the United States and former Yugoslavia, the authors look at the pitfalls, misunderstandings and perverse effects–but also the promise–of trying to replicate atonement. Going beyond the idea of a global or transnational memory, this book examines the significance of foreign models in atonement practices, and analyses the role of national governments, international organisations, museums, foundations, NGOs and public intellectuals in shaping the idea that good practices of atonement can be learned. The volume also demonstrates how one can productively learn from others by appreciating the complex and contested nature of atonement practices such as Germany’s, and also by finding the necessary resources in the history of one’s own country.
