What if you could preserve emotions in a Mason Jar the way you can fruit? What if you saw a homeless man using a $400 cell phone? What if some seconds lasted longer than others? "Entangled with Other Stories" will answer none of these questions, but the selections will make you think, laugh, grimace, snort, and make you wish you were watching TV instead.

Seven Cherokee Myths

Like ancient peoples the world over, the Cherokees of the southern Appalachian Mountains passed along their traditions and beliefs through stories, songs, dances, and religious and healing rituals. With the creation of Cherokee writing by Sequoyah, some of the traditions were also recorded in books. While evoking local geography and natural phenomena, the stories were also enhanced by powerful psychological and spiritual dynamics. This work examines seven myths that grew out of Cherokee culture, looking at how they emerged to explain archetypal issues. Each of the seven stories is told in full and is followed by a detailed history and analysis that provides its background, its associated rituals, and its psychological basis. One quickly discovers that while the myths are ancient, they are strikingly modern in their understanding of human personality development, family dynamics, community solidarity, and the reality of religion or spirituality. Grounded in the experience of this American Indian people and the land they inhabited, the myths tell universal truths. House of Commons - Environmental Audit Committee: Energy Subsidies - HC 61

The Government is shifting the goal-posts on fuel poverty so that official statistics record far fewer households as fuel-poor. The changes to the fuel poverty definition and target, in part being made through amendments to the Energy Bill, should be stopped unless the Government is prepared to make a public commitment to end fuel poverty altogether. A short-term bid to cut bills must not throw energy and climate change policy off-course. In the longer term green levies could actually keep bills down if they drive energy efficiency improvements that cut the cost of heating our homes. Insulating homes and supporting green technologies is vital to help the fuel poor and cut the emissions causi...

The Probability of Mistletoe

When software engineer Keith Trainor decides to start his own company, he knows exactly who he wants as his partner: Parker Mulvaney, his best friend from high school. But in the ten years since graduation, their contact has dwindled to nothing, and it’s all Keith’s fault. If he hadn’t tried to kiss Parker under the mistletoe at the winter formal their senior year, Parker wouldn’t have bolted. At their ten-year reunion, Keith intends to do everything in his geeky power to make amends. Parker should have known that scheduling the reunion the day before Christmas Eve was a recipe for a headache of monster proportions. But when Keith sends a text that he’ll be attending, the evening doesn’t look so bleak. Can an unnecessary makeover, a nostalgic breakfast, an abortive shopping trip, and dance invitations with only a 50 percent success rate culminate in a long-overdue first kiss? The Probability of Mistletoe is a short and sweet opposites-attract, friends-to-lovers, second-chance rom-com featuring an awkward geek on a mission, a determined extrovert with a plan, interfering female relatives of various sizes, and a statistically improbable amount of mistletoe.

Companion to Divine Ascension: A Journey to Enlightenment via Selfless Service

In the tapestry of spiritual exploration, Keith R. Parker's "Companion to Divine Ascension" threads an illuminating path through the profound teachings of the early chapters of the Bhagavad Gita, drawing upon the timeless wisdom of Karma Yoga. This work elucidates the idea that “When serving others' desires, we innocently renounce our own," offering a refreshing insight into the balance between self-sacrifice and self-discovery. The book delves deep into the essence of selflessness as verified by Krishna’s teachings, revealing that true liberation and enlightenment stem from the fulfillment of duties without attachment to personal gain. Parker masterfully interprets these ancient scripts...
