The aim is to assess teacher and pupil values and perceptions vis-a_vis peace themes and political matters. In addition, it is intended to gauge the degree of the two groups' political literacy (politeracy) and peaceability. Once the methodology is introduced the results of survey analysis are discussed. Chapter One focuses on pupil backgrounds; Chapter Two analyses pupil politeracy; Chapter Three investigates pupil interest in current affairs and politics; Chapter Four attempts to arrive at pupil peaceability level; Chapters Five and Six while expanding on peaceability and related issues, conclude the pupil survey analysis. The teacher survey results go through a similar analytical process. The final chapter examines the survey results for both qroups and concludes the dissertation.

This book examines various aspects of changes to business behavior through the lenses of the “twin pillars” of sustainability – responsibility and governance. It discusses whether the focus of corporate social responsibility has changed so much that we need to think about redefinitions of key concepts in the field, and analyses both the theory and practice in a variety of ways to enable conclusions to be drawn about the changes needed to any definitions. This approach is based on the tradition of the Social Responsibility Research Network, which in its 15-year history has sought to broaden the discourse and to treat all research as inter-related and relevant to business. This book consists of the best contributions from the 16th International Conference on Corporate Social Responsibility and 7th Organisational Governance Conference held in Derby, United Kingdom in August/September 2017.

Business Integrity in Practice

The quest for integrity in business is not only a reaction against malfeasance in business and associated calls for reform but also a search that stems from changes and new demands in the global business environment. Among the sources of these new demands are the expectations of stakeholders that corporations and their leaders will take more active roles as citizens within society and in the fight against some of the most pressing problems in the world, such as poverty, environmental degradation, defending human rights, corruption, and pandemic diseases. This book presents and critically discusses key case studies from all over the world, offering essential insights, practical advice, and guidance for any business leader wishing to lead an organization with reliable and proven integrity. The authors provide valuable research results as well as real teaching tools for faculty and students.

Dark Sides of Business and Higher Education Management, Volume II

Contemporary management studies usually focus on positive and desirable solutions that increase the organizational effectiveness and performance. As a result, graduates of higher business schools are totally unaware of the risk associated with management misconduct that often results in corrupt scandals, erosion of public trust to their organizations, or even the collapse of profitable corporations. The last decade, in fact, has been abundant in numerous examples of corruption scandals in modern organizations and instances of management misconduct that have eroded public faith (such as Enron, WorldCom, Tyco, Adelphia, Arthur Andersen, and Parmalat). Due to repeated misconducts and a highly active dark side, scholars started paying more attention to the so-called Òdark sideÓ of organizations, as something no longer exceptional to organizational life. This book attempts to shed light on the reality of challenges for business practices and higher education management that stem from misconduct occurring in various aspects of business and educational environment.
