100 Years of Conference Interpreting
When Woodrow Wilson, David Lloyd George, Vittorio Emanuele Orlando and Georges Clemenceau met in Versailles in January 1919, they ushered in the modern era of multilateral diplomacy and—perhaps inadvertently—laid the foundation for a new profession. Indeed, communication among these statesmen was only possible thanks to the first conference interpreters. For the following 100 years, these interpreters would become a permanent fixture at all international multilateral conferences. As we celebrate one century of conference interpreting, this volume takes stock of some of the most important milestones throughout the history of this exceptional profession and looks at its future at a time when the global COVID-19 pandemic has transformed the world of international meetings. Thanks to its refreshingly interactive format, this volume gives a voice to different stakeholders in the world of conference interpreting today, including practitioners, managers, researchers and trainers. Cognitive Load in Simultaneous Interpreting
L'objectif de ce projet est d'apporter des preuves empiriques pour nourrir la discussion sur l'importance des différences structurelles entre les langues pendant le processus de l'interprétation simultanée. Une expérience a donc été conçue afin de mettre au jour les différences entre les mesures directes de la charge cognitive pendant l'interprétation simultanée de structures linguistiques symétriques et asymétriques. Les conclusions étayent l'idée que l'interprétation simultanée d'une structure syntaxique allemande avec le verbe à la fin vers une langue où le verbe occupe la deuxième place (anglais) provoque une charge cognitive maximale plus élevée qu'une construction correspondante à l'allemand avec le verbe en deuxième position. De plus elles apportent des preuves permettant d'appuyer l'affirmation selon laquelle la disponibilité du contexte linguistique facilite le processus de compréhension.

Computer-assisted simultaneous interpreting: A cognitive-experimental study on terminology
The present work explores computer-assisted simultaneous interpreting (CASI) from a primarily cognitive perspective. Despite concerns over the potentially negative impact of computer-assisted interpreting (CAI) tools on interpreters’ cognitive load (CL), this hypothesis remains untested.
