In her book, Unimacy: Love and Intimacy That Lasts, Lara Anderson presents her expert vision on romantic relationships, their problems, and the new possibilities for having a more fulfilling and joyful love life. The physical dimension of most relationships has a high likelihood of dying over time. Couples struggle to keep their sexuality alive because of the mainstream beliefs about sexual pleasure--such as the assumption that the orgasm is the ultimate goal--and because of their expectations from each other's bodies. In Unimacy: Love and Intimacy That Lasts, Lara Anderson highlights beliefs that become obstacles to intimacy, and she offers a new set of values that couples can bring into th...

String-Math 2022

This is a proceedings volume from the String-Math conference which took place at the University of Warsaw in 2022. This 12th String-Math conference focused on several research areas actively developing these days. They included generalized (categorical) symmetries in quantum field theory and their relation to topological phases of matter; formal aspects of quantum field theory, in particular twisted holography; various developments in supersymmetric gauge theories, BPS counting and Donaldson–Thomas invariants. Other topics discussed at this conference included new advances in Gromov–Witten theory, curve counting, and Calabi–Yau manifolds. Another broad topic concerned algebraic aspects of conformal field theory, vertex operator algebras, and quantum groups. Furthermore, several other recent developments were presented during the conference, such as understanding the role of operator algebras in the presence of gravity, derivation of gauge-string duality, complexity of black holes, or mathematical aspects of the amplituhedron. This proceedings volume contains articles summarizing 14 conference lectures, devoted to the above topics.

Chick Lit Postfeminist Fiction

Original fiction of newly discovered writers and award winning work of notable writers Chick-Lit: Postfeminist Fiction is the fourth volume in "On the Edge: New Women's Fiction," FC2's ongoing effort to discover new and innovative voices in women's fiction. Determined to contradict the myth that "women don't write experimental fiction," Chick-Lit discovers women writers with a fresh and irreverent wit and honesty, but no less powerful in their rendering of human experience. Chick-Lit collects the original fiction of newly discovered writers, but also the award winning work of notable writers like Carole Maso, Jonis Agee, Stacy Levinne and Carolyn Banks. Marked by innovations in form and poin...

Going Deep

Jump into the Deep End What is a deep person? If you’d like to become one, would you know how? Would you like to help others become deep? If so, you have come to the right place. In this fascinating book, best-selling author Gordon MacDonald discovers that his small New England church could be headed for trouble. Why? Because of a serious shortage. There are plenty of good people, well-meaning people, sincere people—but not enough deep people. In his celebrated and engaging style, Gordon transports you back to the fictional setting from his critically acclaimed book, Who Stole My Church? He identifies the crucial missing component in his community: people of true depth, people of real influence. And he offers unforgettable insights on how to cultivate spiritual maturity and exhibit life-altering faith. As it turns out in Gordon’s town—and probably yours—what’s needed is people who are willing to seek Christ passionately with a hunger to go deep. This may be exactly what you’ve been looking for.

Handbook of Moral Behavior and Development

The publication of this unique three-volume set represents the culmination of years of work by a large number of scholars, researchers, and professionals in the field of moral development. The literature on moral behavior and development has grown to the point where it is no longer possible to capture the “state of the art” in a single volume. This comprehensive multi-volume Handbook marks an important transition because it provides evidence that the field has emerged as an area of scholarly activity in its own right. Spanning many professional domains, there is a striking variety of issues and topics surveyed: anthropology, biology, economics, education, philosophy, psychology, psychiat...

El Terrible: Life and Labor in Pueblonuevo, 1887-1939

This book is a biography of Pueblonuevo del Terrible, a mining town located in Andalusia, Spain. Based on previously unexamined sources, the study paints a fresh portrait of industrial workers and their families in Córdoba province, enriching our understanding of this mostly agricultural region. Previous studies of laboring communities in Spain have identified radical workers, miners among them, as a destabilizing element due to their insurgent protest activity, including lethal violence. This study, by contrast, describes both worker activism and cross-class organizing as constructive, not destructive, and aimed at integration into Spanish society. Economically, the mining zone was dominat...

String-Math 2011

The nature of interactions between mathematicians and physicists has been thoroughly transformed in recent years. String theory and quantum field theory have contributed a series of profound ideas that gave rise to entirely new mathematical fields and revitalized older ones. The influence flows in both directions, with mathematical techniques and ideas contributing crucially to major advances in string theory. A large and rapidly growing number of both mathematicians and physicists are working at the string-theoretic interface between the two academic fields. The String-Math conference series aims to bring together leading mathematicians and mathematically minded physicists working in this interface. This volume contains the proceedings of the inaugural conference in this series, String-Math 2011, which was held June 6-11, 2011, at the University of Pennsylvania.
