Getting Started in Trading

Written specifically for the novice, Getting Started in Trading explains the basics of trading, in any time frame. While most beginner books answer such technical questions as "What is a put" and "What is a call", this book describes both the "what" of trading and the how: how do I place a trade, how do I select a broker, and what do I tell them when I open my account? It provides detailed information on selecting a computer, software packages, and data sources.

Behind the Label

In a study crucial to our understanding of American social inequality, Edna Bonacich and Richard Appelbaum investigate the return of sweatshops to the apparel industry, especially in Los Angeles. The "new" sweatshops, they say, need to be understood in terms of the decline in the American welfare state and its strong unions and the rise in global and flexible production. Apparel manufacturers now have the incentive to move production to wherever low-wage labor can be found, while maintaining arm's-length contractual relations that protect them from responsibility. The flight of the industry has led to a huge rise in apparel imports to the United States and to a decline in employment. Los Ang...

Democracy Under Fire

How did democracy become so vulnerable in America? Donald Trump is a shrill warning of the political system's fragility, but he alone is not the problem. The vulnerability is broader and deeper-and looms still. Even before Trump ran for president, his disdain for the rules and norms of democracy and the US Constitution was well-known by many prominent Republicans who were unable to stop his nomination. Trump's presidency is the culmination of a series of political decisions since the late 18th century that ceded party nominations to small cliques of ideologues. Democracy Under Fire provides a readable, if disturbing, history of American democracy and proposes recommendations to restore it.

What The Frozen Journey is all about is men and women traveling to the nearest star which is Proxima Centaur 4. 2 light years or 25 trillion miles. The story takes place in the year 2050; Spaceships in that year could travel a maximum speed of a thousand miles a second of 3,6000,000 miles an hour. Going that speed it would take 792 years to get there. In order to make it in there lifetimes they had to freeze the bodies. At a temperature of -273 Centigrade it would put the human body into suspended animation. This temperature would completely arrest any deterioration on the human and make it last forever. At Journeys end the machines that froze them would automatically reverse the process and thaw them out. They would come back to life ready to start a new life at another solar system. But why go on such a brutal trip? These people had a good reason for it because our sun was dying.

The Foreign Policy Disconnect

With world affairs so troubled, what kind of foreign policy should the United States pursue? Benjamin Page and Marshall Bouton look for answers in a surprising place: among the American people. Drawing on a series of national surveys conducted between 1974 and 2004, Page and Bouton reveal that—contrary to conventional wisdom—Americans generally hold durable, coherent, and sensible opinions about foreign policy. Nonetheless, their opinions often stand in opposition to those of policymakers, usually because of different interests and values, rather than superior wisdom among the elite. The Foreign Policy Disconnect argues that these gaps between leaders and the public are harmful, and that...

Blown for Good

Marc Headley started working for the Scientology organization in 1989. After leaving in 2005, Marc posted bits and pieces of what went on at the Scientology headquarters (known from inside as the International Base). Marc posted anonymously under the screen name of Blownforgood aka BFG. In September 2008 Marc was invited to speak to an international conference of European government representatives regarding the Scientology organization and their abuses. It was at this time that Marc revealed his identity as Blownforgood. By 2009, the internet posts Marc had written over the years had been viewed hundreds of thousands of times, but still there were people who questioned their validity. Stori...
