Oft werden Weltanschauungen für politische, gesellschaftliche oder individuelle Zwecke instrumentalisiert – sie kommen nicht selten in Gestalt von Verheißungen daher und entpuppen sich ebenso häufig als Zumutungen. Die Studie befasst sich mit dem Zusammenhang von Sinneswahrnehmung und Exotismus in der deutschsprachigen, französischen und britischen Literatur vom späten 18. bis zum frühen 20. Jahrhundert.
