This book constitutes the selected papers from the scientific satellite events held in conjunction with the19th International Conference on Service-Oriented Computing, ICSOC 2021. The conference was held Dubai, United Arab Emirates in November 2021. When realizing a programming language as VM, implementing behavior as part of the VM, as primitive, usually results in reduced execution times. But supporting and developing primitive functions requires more effort than maintaining and using code in the hosted language since debugging is harder, and the turn-around times for VM parts are higher. Euro-Par 2022: Parallel Processing
This book constitutes the proceedings of the 33rd International Conference on Parallel and Distributed Computing, Euro-Par 2022, held in GLasgow, UK, in August 2022. The 25 full papers presented in this volume were carefully reviewed and selected from 102 submissions. The conference Euro-Par 2022 covers all aspects of parallel and distributed computing, ranging from theory to practice, scaling from the smallest to the largest parallel and distributed systems, from fundamental computational problems and models to full-fledged applications, from architecture and interface design and implementation to tools, infrastructures and applications.
On the operationalization of graph queries with generalized discrimination networks
Graph queries have lately gained increased interest due to application areas such as social networks, biological networks, or model queries. For the relational database case the relational algebra and generalized discrimination networks have been studied to find appropriate decompositions into subqueries and ordering of these subqueries for query evaluation or incremental updates of query results. For graph database queries however there is no formal underpinning yet that allows us to find such suitable operationalizations. Consequently, we suggest a simple operational concept for the decomposition of arbitrary complex queries into simpler subqueries and the ordering of these subqueries in form of generalized discrimination networks for graph queries inspired by the relational case. The approach employs graph transformation rules for the nodes of the network and thus we can employ the underlying theory. We further show that the proposed generalized discrimination networks have the same expressive power as nested graph conditions.
Tools for High Performance Computing 2015
High Performance Computing (HPC) remains a driver that offers huge potentials and benefits for science and society. However, a profound understanding of the computational matters and specialized software is needed to arrive at effective and efficient simulations. Dedicated software tools are important parts of the HPC software landscape, and support application developers. Even though a tool is by definition not a part of an application, but rather a supplemental piece of software, it can make a fundamental difference during the development of an application. Such tools aid application developers in the context of debugging, performance analysis, and code optimization, and therefore make a major contribution to the development of robust and efficient parallel software. This book introduces a selection of the tools presented and discussed at the 9th International Parallel Tools Workshop held in Dresden, Germany, September 2-3, 2015, which offered an established forum for discussing the latest advances in parallel tools.
