Comprehensively teaches the fundamentals of supply chain theory This book presents the methodology and foundations of supply chain management and also demonstrates how recent developments build upon classic models. The authors focus on strategic, tactical, and operational aspects of supply chain management and cover a broad range of topics from forecasting, inventory management, and facility location to transportation, process flexibility, and auctions. Key mathematical models for optimizing the design, operation, and evaluation of supply chains are presented as well as models currently emerging from the research frontier. Fundamentals of Supply Chain Theory, Second Edition contains new chap...
Foundations of Dependable Computing: System Implementation, explores the system infrastructure needed to support the various paradigms of Paradigms for Dependable Applications. Approaches to implementing support mechanisms and to incorporating additional appropriate levels of fault detection and fault tolerance at the processor, network, and operating system level are presented. A primary concern at these levels is balancing cost and performance against coverage and overall dependability. As these chapters demonstrate, low overhead, practical solutions are attainable and not necessarily incompatible with performance considerations. The section on innovative compiler support, in particular, d...

The goal of this volume is to begin to create those critical linkages between positive psychological attributes and relevant research areas. Undoubtedly, there are many topics in positive psychology that could not be covered in just one volume, and many more topical linkages to business ethics and social responsibility that need to be made. While much research yet needs to be done in this nascent area, we hope that much as other volumes on positive psychology served as an impetus for research in social psychology (see Snyder & Lopez, 2002) and organizational behavior (Cameron, Dutton, & Quinn, 2003), this volume will ignite scientific interest in the role positive psychology plays in key areas such as ethics and social responsibility. As the study of positive psychology continues to emerge more fully, it may well help us to better comprehend the impact of this paradigm on predicting ethical decision making, organizational citizenship, and social responsibility toward the end of creating more positive and productive workplaces in general.
This volume presents revised versions of the 32 papers accepted for the Seventh Annual Workshop on Languages and Compilers for Parallel Computing, held in Ithaca, NY in August 1994. The 32 papers presented report on the leading research activities in languages and compilers for parallel computing and thus reflect the state of the art in the field. The volume is organized in sections on fine-grain parallelism, align- ment and distribution, postlinear loop transformation, parallel structures, program analysis, computer communication, automatic parallelization, languages for parallelism, scheduling and program optimization, and program evaluation.
Losses are integral to the human experience, but they sometimes unfold in subtle ways. Loss is not just about death, but can encompass a number of situations, such as those gradual losses experienced by the elderly: loss of vision, mental capacity, or hope. Intended to stimulate ideas and research in the new area of psychological aspects of loss, this sourcebook collects the writing of a set of distinguished scholars representing psychology and related fields. The author presents a case for a broadly-construed field of loss-both personal and interpersonal-that would complement other fields such as death and dying, traumatology, and stress and coping. No other volume is as comprehensive in it...
In the short time since the publication of the Handbook of Positive Psychology esearch results on the psychology of human strengths have proliferated. However, no major volume has documented the methods and theory used to achieve these results. Oxford Handbook of Methods in Positive Psychology fills this need, providing a broad overview of diverse contemporary methods in positive psychology. With contributions from both leading scholars and promising young investigators, the handbook serves to illuminate and, at times, challenge traditional approaches. Incorporating multiple levels of analysis, from biology to culture, the contributors present state-of-the art techniques, including those for...
