A political book for non-political people from viral TikTok sensation PoliticsGirl. Something’s gone wrong in the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave. We can all feel it, but if we’re being honest, most of us don’t understand it. At the end of the day, we don’t have all the facts, and if you don’t know how something works, how do you fix it? A Return to Common Sense is a concise, no-nonsense, dare we say fun, guide to how America works and a roadmap to reclaiming a government of, by, and for the people. How can we organize and govern ourselves successfully in a world of rapid change and increasing interconnection? This project is a complex set of micro-simulation models and databases which allows users from a wide variety of disciplines to construct and evaluate forecasts and simulations concerned with the causes and consequences of Canada's aging population. Chapter 1 is a brief statement by three representatives of the major funding agencies of the project. Chapter 2 is an overview of the CEPHID project. Chapter 3 presents a series of projections of health status attributes of the elderly. Chapter 4 describes the FADEP model, which is a major component of the CEPHID project. In Chapter 5, CEPHID is used to project the future needs for informal care amongst the elderly. Chapter 6 shows how CEPHID can be used to examine a tightly defined problem. Finally, Chapters 7 and 8 looks at methods of micro-simulation as models to study a variety of substantive issues.

The purpose of this environmental impact statement (EIS) is to provide information on potential environmental impacts that could result from a Proposed Action to construct, operate and monitor, and eventually close a geologic repository for the disposal of spent nuclear fuel and high-level radioactive waste at the Yucca Mountain site in Nye County, Nevada. The EIS also provides information on potential environmental impacts from an alternative referred to as the No-Action Alternative, under which there would be no development of a geologic repository at Yucca Mountain.
Informed observers and policy makers are well aware that in recent years social welfare systems on both sides of the Atlantic have been subject to growing scrutiny, debate and controversy, especially due to high unemployment rates and extreme interest rates experienced during the last recession as well as important demographic changes such as the increase of women into the labour market and the aging population. The papers included in the colloquium discuss the situation of social welfare policy in three stages: historical developments and forces for change; the influence of the political process on social security developments; and, the nature of policy responses to demographic change.

It includes suggestions as to a possible strategy for reform, and presents the background papers prepared for the workshop.
