Spanish Comics offers an overview on contemporary scholarship on Spanish comics, focusing on a wide range of comics dating from the Francoist dictatorship, 1939-1975; the Political Transition, 1970-1985; and Democratic Spain since the early 1980s including the emergence of the graphic novel in 2000. Music, Words and Nationalism: National Anthems and Songs in the Modern Era considers the concept of nationalism from 1780 to 2020 through anthems and national songs as symbolic and representative elements of the national identity of individuals, peoples, or collectivities. The volume shows that both the words and music of these works reveal a great deal about the defining features of a nation, its political and cultural history, and its self-perception. The book takes an interdisciplinary approach that provides a better understanding of the role of national anthems and songs in the expression of national identities and nationalistic goals. From this perspective, the relationship between hymns and political contexts, their own symbolic content (both literary and musical) and the role of specific hymns in the construction of national sentiments are surveyed.

¿Cómo comunicamos la identidad? Es la pregunta a la cual aspira a responder este libro. Desde un enfoque interdisciplinar, se abordan dos cuestiones de gran interés, la comunicación y la(s) identidad(es), entendidos ambos conceptos como interactuantes y necesariamente cooperantes. Partiendo de una propuesta de definición de identidad colectiva, se aborda el análisis de la relación entre comunicación e identidad desde perspectivas distintas, pero complementarias: aspectos lingüísticos de la comunicación e identidad, aspectos discursivos (político, artísticos, literarios...), medios de comunicación e identidad; perspectiva de género y generacional; e internet, redes sociales e identidad. La primera parte del libro se centra en el ámbito vasco y analiza, a través de una perspectiva diacrónica, cómo se ha/n comunicado identidad/es en diferentes marcos espacio-temporales. La segunda parte aborda el análisis de la comunicación actual en tres ámbitos: el de género, el de las personas mayores de edad y el organizacional/empresarial.
