This book examines how we can conceive of a ’postcolonial museum’ in the contemporary epoch of mass migrations, the internet and digital technologies. The authors consider the museum space, practices and institutions in the light of repressed histories, sounds, voices, images, memories, bodies, expression and cultures. Focusing on the transformation of museums as cultural spaces, rather than physical places, is to propose a living archive formed through creation, participation, production and innovation. The aim is to propose a critical assessment of the museum in the light of those transcultural and global migratory movements that challenge the historical and traditional frames of Occidental thought. This involves a search for new strategies and critical approaches in the fields of museum and heritage studies which will renew and extend understandings of European citizenship and result in an inevitable re-evaluation of the concept of ’modernity’ in a so-called globalised and multicultural world.
This work provides insights into the physical and human geography of Sardinia, the second largest Mediterranean island, with its complex, varied, changing and often hidden features. The title, “Surrounded by Water”, recalls the identity of a land whose coastlines and surrounding seas have symbolically represented social, economic, political, cultural bridges or walls, meeting or colliding places, over its long and difficult history. This Festschrift is dedicated to the former Director and Editor-in-chief of the Monumenta Serica Institute in Sankt Augustin (Germany), Roman Malek, S.V.D. in recognition of his scholarly commitment to China. The two-volume work contains 40 articles by his academic colleagues, companions in faith, confreres, as well as by the staff of the Monumenta Serica Institute and the China-Zentrum e.V. (China Center). The contributions in English, German and Chinese pay homage to the jubilarian’s diverse research interests, covering the fields of Chinese Intellectual History, History of Christianity in China, Christianity in China Today, Other Religions in China, Chinese Language and Literature as well as the Encounter of Cultures.

Il progetto Bell’ Buon e Giusto promosso da Fondazione Valenzi ha offerto a quattro Scuole attività extracurriculari di educazione alla legalità attraverso l’arte, grazie anche alle esperienze di Dis@net, Aporema Onlus e Ascender del gruppo Libera. Il coordinamento scientifico di Maria D’Ambrosio e la sua ricerca con il gruppo embodied education - in particolare con Alessandra Asuni, Enrica Spada, Giulia Angrisani e la connessione con il Collettivo Needle Napoli - hanno fatto da innesto per un certo attivismo pedagogico e uno sguardo critico che tiene insieme Etica ed Estetica e sperimenta metodologie performative per rendere fecondo il ‘fare scuola’ in senso trasformativo e tenere lontana qualsiasi forma di obbedienza, in nome di un paesaggio civile e quindi di un’educazione civica fatta ad arte. Nel testo si riflette sulla necessità di prendersi cura di quel paesaggio e quindi del nesso tra corpi e spazi, come tra Pedagogia e Architettura e tra Arte e Educazione, come focus metodologico per ripercorrere la formazione dei formatori, la co-progettazione e rigenerazione di spazi scolastici esterni divenuti installazioni permanenti e la produzione di un film breve.
