This book collects a selection of papers presented at ELECTRIMACS 2019 - The 13th international conference of the IMACS TC1 Committee, held in Salerno, Italy, on 21st-23rd May 2019. The conference papers deal with modelling, simulation, analysis, control, power management, design optimization, identification and diagnostics in electrical power engineering. The main application fields include electric machines and electromagnetic devices, power electronics, transportation systems, smart grids, electric and hybrid vehicles, renewable energy systems, energy storage, batteries, supercapacitors and fuel cells, wireless power transfer. The contributions included in Volume 2 are particularly focussed on methodological aspects, modelling and applied mathematics in the field of electrical engineering.
The special volume offers a global guide to new concepts and approaches concerning the following topics: reduced basis methods, proper orthogonal decomposition, proper generalized decomposition, approximation theory related to model reduction, learning theory and compressed sensing, stochastic and high-dimensional problems, system-theoretic methods, nonlinear model reduction, reduction of coupled problems/multiphysics, optimization and optimal control, state estimation and control, reduced order models and domain decomposition methods, Krylov-subspace and interpolatory methods, and applications to real industrial and complex problems. The book represents the state of the art in the development of reduced order methods. It contains contributions from internationally respected experts, guaranteeing a wide range of expertise and topics. Further, it reflects an important effor t, carried out over the last 12 years, to build a growing research community in this field. Though not a textbook, some of the chapters can be used as reference materials or lecture notes for classes and tutorials (doctoral schools, master classes).
This book is devoted to the latest advances in the area of electrothermal modelling of electronic components and networks. It contains eight sections by different teams of authors. These sections contain the results of: (a) electro-thermal simulations of SiC power MOSFETs using a SPICE-like simulation program; (b) modelling thermal properties of inductors taking into account the influence of the core volume on the efficiency of heat removal; (c) investigations into the problem of inserting a temperature sensor in the neighbourhood of a chip to monitor its junction temperature; (d) computations of the internal temperature of power LEDs situated in modules containing multiple-power LEDs, takin...
In a world where innovation and sustainability are paramount, Fundamentals of Design of Experiments for Automotive Engineering: Volume I serves as a definitive guide to harnessing the power of statistical thinking in product development. As first of four volumes in SAE International’s DOE for Product Reliability Growth series, this book presents a practical, application-focused approach by emphasizing DOE as a dynamic tool for automotive engineers. It showcases real-world examples, demonstrating how process improvements and system optimizations can significantly enhance product reliability. The author, Yung Chiang, leverages extensive product development expertise to present a comprehensiv...
This first volume in the Mosharaka for Research and Studies International Conference Proceedings series (P-MIC) contains peer-reviewed papers presented at the 1st International Congress on Engineering Technologies (EngiTek 2020). This event was held remotely on 16-18 June 2020, and hosted by the Faculty of Engineering, Jordan University of Science & Technology (Irbid, Jordan). The conference represented a major forum for professors, students, and professionals from all over the world to present their latest research results, and to exchange new ideas and practical experiences in the most cutting-edge areas of the field of engineering technologies. Topics covered include electrical engineering, computer science and electronics.
Unlike any other Italian manufacturing sector, Italy's recreational boating industry has recorded skyrocketing growth rates for years, ultimately achieving a world leadership position in the construction of motor yachts. But now the global crisis has imposed profound structural changes and significant evolutionary dynamics on the industry's competitive environment. The book aims to answer some of the industry's most hotly-debated issues, including: - What are the key features that led to this success? - What business models characterize Italian shipyards? - Which elements distinguish the Italian industry from its foreign competitors? Which future challenges must the industry overcome in order to maintain its leadership position?
