21 Days of Grace

Christians have long loved devotionals, but today’s Christians are also developing a strong love for fiction. They want to read stories about characters they can relate to, who experience situations similar to their own, and learn from those examples how to live out their faith. For them, life lessons are more easily absorbed this way. 21 Days of Grace fits all of these needs. It is a collection of engaging, inspirational short fiction stories written by new, intermediate, and well-known authors including Angela Hunt, Deborah Raney, Cindy Woodsmall, Cecil Murphey, Robin Bayne, and more. Like Jesus’ parables, these stories deal with important life issues in a subtle, unpressured manner. And, as Jesus did, the authors follow up with life applications based on the stories, suggesting how the inherent lessons can be applied to the reader’s daily life.

Dog Gone It

My wife, Elaine, originally thought a puppy would be good therapy for me in the midst of my ongoing recovery from the traumatic brain injury I suffered several months earlier. But the reality was that she wanted to add a new member to our household, but didn’t recognize it the time she initiated the idea of getting a puppy. Her saying it was for my benefit ended up being somewhat of a smokescreen. After clearing up the rationale for getting a puppy, I discovered several personal benefits once we got Sophie (our dog’s name), including getting to own such a cool and precious dog as well as having a ready and willing runner partner anytime I went for a run. But the most important and biggest value has been what Sophie has shown me about God. In chapter one, I write, “As the months rolled on, I noticed how many times I thought of God as I watched the relationship between Sophie and Elaine. Sometimes it was seeing Sophie’s personality. Other times it was observing how Elaine dealt with her. Occasionally, it had to do with the puppy’s actions. But ultimately, I saw visual demonstrations of spiritual truths.”

A sympathetic, compassionate, and inspiring guide for parents—from the founders of one of the first Christian ministries for parents of LGBTQ children. Greg and Lynn McDonald had never interacted with members of the LGBTQ community until they discovered that their son was gay. Without resources or support, they had no idea how to come to terms with this discovery. At first they tried to “fix” him, to no avail. But even in the earliest days of their journey, the McDonalds clung to two absolutes: they would love God, and they would love their son. “An essential resource for Christian parents of LGBTQ kids,” (Matthew Vines, Executive Director of The Reformation Project) this book foll...
