Louise's childhood was a living nightmare. Repeatedly sexually abused by her mother's out-of-control boyfriend, the little five year old was surrounded by evil. Louise was beaten with leather belts, starved and neglected, as the family suffered at the hands of both their mother and her partner. Finally, her tormentor was arrested. But her mother stood by him and Louise was dragged to prison visits every week, forced to sit on her abuser's knee and tell him how much she loved him and wanted him to come home. The horror continued when her mother found a new partner even worse than the last. Within months he was assaulting and eventually raping Louise. Taken into care, Louise ended up addicted to drugs and selling her body. But the birth of her child saw Louise vow to turn her life around - and that is just what she did. She broke free, and MUMMY, MAKE IT STOP, is the true story of a brave spirit that refused to be crushed.

A photobook capturing London during the COVID-19 Pandemic. During COVID-19 I worked within the NHS. Having led and implemented care systems and supported clinicians on the front line, all of us working many hours over too many days. On my first day off, I cycled around London, just aghast with how serene and yet sombre it looked. I live in London, so usually avoid such busy chaotic spots, especially on the weekends. This book is dedicated to all those who work in the NHS in any capacity (including my wife), the teachers and support staff in schools (particularly FPS) who supported my daughter in the key workers classes, and with the remote learning packages, while we worked tirelessly to ensure patients were cared for during this cause.

Beating the Odds

When data are available after 2003, the assessment uses them, including data from a special non representative survey developed for this report - the poverty and vulnerability survey. The starting point for the analysis uses multiple quantitative and qualitative indicators that describe levels of and changes in opportunities and outcomes for households and communities in Mozambique since 1997. The rest of the report explains these changes."--BOOK JACKET.
