Boston, Thursday 2/01/09 11:15a Its a cold and windy day. On the street crowds of people are everywhere. Police cruisers are seen rarely if not at all. Vacant lots and abandoned buildings make up the interior of the cities most crime ridden sections. Despite all the murder that plagues the city day by day it still has one of the highest black populations in the country numbering at three million and counting. Crime around the country in all of the state capitals is so bad that there are barriers built around the cities to block off the spreading anarchy. Government buildings and hospitals are the only places guarded by the military. In the cities people live regular lives. They work, pay bills, send there children to school, save money and buy property. As far as the government is concerned, they don't give a fuck what happens to anyone as long as the money keeps flowing, legally or illegally. The city is in constant chaos. It seems only Lucifer himself would be powerful enough to bring order to this living hell.
A new edition of the almost legendary textbook by Schlichting completely revised by Klaus Gersten is now available. This book presents a comprehensive overview of boundary-layer theory and its application to all areas of fluid mechanics, with emphasis on the flow past bodies (e.g. aircraft aerodynamics). It contains the latest knowledge of the subject based on a thorough review of the literature over the past 15 years. Yet again, it will be an indispensable source of inexhaustible information for students of fluid mechanics and engineers alike.

This book presents both experimental and theoretical aspects of topology in magnetism. It first discusses how the topology in real space is relevant for a variety of magnetic spin structures, including domain walls, vortices, skyrmions, and dynamic excitations, and then focuses on the phenomena that are driven by distinct topology in reciprocal momentum space, such as anomalous and spin Hall effects, topological insulators, and Weyl semimetals. Lastly, it examines how topology influences dynamic phenomena and excitations (such as spin waves, magnons, localized dynamic solitons, and Majorana fermions). The book also shows how these developments promise to lead the transformative revolution of information technology.
