This book contains a selection of higher quality and reviewed papers of the 14th Portuguese Conference on Artificial Intelligence, EPIA 2009, held in Aveiro, Portugal, in October 2009. The 55 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from a total of 163 submissions. This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 10th Portuguese Conference on Artificial Intelligence, EPTA 2001, held in Porto, Portugal, in December 2001. The 21 revised long papers and 18 revised short papers were carefully reviewed and selected from a total of 88 submissions. Narrar a Ditadura: Gênero e Memória no Documentário Brasileiro
Narrar a ditadura, gênero e memória no documentário brasileiro é uma reflexão sobre a guinada subjetiva e o protagonismo das mulheres em narrativas documentais que tangenciam as memórias da ditadura civil-militar no Brasil. A partir da análise de oito documentários produzidos por diretoras, entre 1996 e 2013, identificam-se três mecanismos de reconstrução de histórias de vida e interpretação de uma memória pública: a prevalência do self, a exposição do fragmento de si, a montagem de relatos verossímeis diante da perda e do trauma de familiares. Essa produção cinematográfica Pós-Retomada caracteriza-se por narrativas construídas a partir de afetos subjetivantes e de uma perspectiva de gênero que imprime uma memória vicária no pós-ditadura. Ao passo que democratizaram afecções por meio de imagens pedagógicas sobre o passado, tais filmes deixam evidente como políticas de reparação, de justiça e de verdade ainda permanecem em disputa no país.

Functional and structural intricacies of biological systems emerge from the complex nature of the genome. A key aspect of genome complexity can be attributed to the process of alternative splicing of precursor mRNA (or pre-mRNA), during which introns are removed and exons are selectively spliced together.
