This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 15th Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Medicine, AIME 2015, held in Pavia, Italy, in June 2015. The 19 revised full and 24 short papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 99 submissions. The papers are organized in the following topical sections: process mining and phenotyping; data mining and machine learning; temporal data mining; uncertainty and Bayesian networks; text mining; prediction in clinical practice; and knowledge representation and guidelines.

We are delighted to present the 2022 Women in Chemistry article collection. Following the celebration of International Women’s Day 2022, the UNESCO International Day of Women and Girls in Science, Frontiers in Chemistry is proud to offer this platform to promote the work of women scientists, across all branches of Chemistry. At present, less than 30% of researchers worldwide are women. Long-standing biases and gender stereotypes are discouraging girls and women away from science-related fields, and STEM research in particular. Chemistry is no exception to this. Science and gender equality are, however, essential to ensure sustainable development as highlighted by UNESCO. In order to change traditional mindsets, gender equality must be promoted, stereotypes defeated, and girls and women should be encouraged to pursue STEM careers.
This volume presents the work of leading scientists from Russia, Georgia, Estonia, Lithuania, Israel and the USA, revealing major insights long unknown to the scientific community. Without any doubt their work will provide a springboard for further research in anticipation. Until recently, Robert Rosen (Anticipatory Systems) and Mihai Nadin (MIND – Anticipation and Chaos) were deemed forerunners in this still new knowledge domain. The distinguished neurobiologist, Steven Rose, pointed to the fact that Soviet neuropsychological theories have not on the whole been well received by Western science. These earlier insights as presented in this volume make an important contribution to the foundation of the science of anticipation. This book presents emerging economical and environmentally friendly polymer composites that are free of the side effects observed in traditional composites. It focuses on eco-friendly composite materials using granulated cork, a by-product of the cork industry; cellulose pulp from the recycling of paper residues; hemp fibers; and a range of other environmentally friendly materials procured from various sources.
