The Hughes Family from Virginia to Oregon
William Hughes, believed to have been of the third generation in America, possibly son of Jesse Hughes of Powhattan and Hughes Creek, Virginia, and grandson of Hugh Hughes, an early comer to Virginia, was born in Virginia late 1680s-1697. He died 1767 in Hampshire County, Virginia.

Abbott and Costello on the Home Front
As two of the most popular entertainers of the mid-century film industry, comic greats Bud Abbott and Lou Costello offered an essential balm to the American public following the sorrows of the Great Depression and during the trauma of World War II.
