La presente cartilla se constituye en un acercamiento cultural hacia el conocimiento de la diversidad genética de un cultivo tradicional indígena, que como pocos, ha logrado sobrevivir la historia de ocupación y colonización de la Amazonia, extendiéndose hacia otras regiones del mundo. Este documento presenta una fusión entre el saber tradicional y el conocimiento occidental, usando descriptores técnicos como la coloración, forma y tamaño de la planta y sus partes, conjugándolos con las características de manejo y conocimiento indígena. Mediante este diálogo de saberes, se han establecido los nombres, tipos y particularidades de las diferentes variedades de yuca cultivadas y domesticadas por parte de las comunidades Ticuna asentadas en la ribera colombiana del río Amazonas.
