Still Caring shows the many ways in which families or friends can provide continuing support to elderly people in residential aged care facilities, and how important this is. Such ongoing involvement in an elderly person's life in care can help to make it as comfortable, happy and fulfilling as possible. Self-care is also discussed, along with practical ideas about how Carers can look after their own well-being as they continnue to provide support to others. This book was completed while Australia's Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety was investigating widespread concerns about the industry. At the same time, the COVID-19 pandemic also highlighted the vulnerability of elderly people in residential aged care. Like many others, the authors had a strong desire to enhance the lives of aged care residents and were driven to record their thoughts and offer suggestions for possible improvements. Written by two retired social workers with relevant personal and professional experience, Still Caring is an informative and insightful read for anyone, anywhere who is supporting an elderly person in residental aged care.

The Lives They Saved is the story in artifacts and oral histories of the 300,000 New Yorkers who were evacuated from Manhattan on 9/11…by boat. It is a story that has not yet been written about or told. It includes hundreds of oral histories and many photographs of this high drama, set against the terrifying backdrop of the day when the Earth stood still, every airport in the U.S. was closed down, and Manhattan was seized by gridlock. For perspective, the boatlift that saved Britain’s expeditionary force from the beaches of Dunkirk removed approximately the same number of people: 300,000.
Lyn-Lake
The Lyn-Lake area of Minneapolis, centered around the intersection of Lyndale Avenue and West Lake Street, is one of the city's most distinctive neighborhoods. The core commercial district is one of the oldest in South Minneapolis, thanks in part to its strategic location along several early streetcar lines. A rail line along Twenty-ninth Street, now the Midtown Greenway, brought an industrial element to the neighborhood and provided additional jobs for the thousands of residents who lived in the surrounding houses and apartment buildings. As the neighborhood evolved, it took on a distinctive bohemian bent and filled with a diverse mix of artists, musicians, and writers living side by side with blue-collar industrial workers, along with those who worked at professional office jobs downtown.
