Life of Martyn Lloyd-Jones-1899-1981

This book is a re-cast, condensed and, in parts, re-written version of the author's two volumes D. Martyn Lloyd- Jones: The First Forty Years (I982) and The Fight of Faith (I990). Since those dates, the life of Dr Lloyd-Jones has been the subject of comment and assessment in many publications and these have been taken into account. The main purpose of this further biography, however, is to put Dr Lloyd-Jones' life before another generation in more accessible form. The big story is all here.

Some may object to my dogmatic assertions; but I do not apologise for them. Every preacher should believe strongly in his own method; and if I cannot persuade all of the rightness of mine, I can at least stimulate them to think and to consider other possibilities. I can say quite honestly that I would not cross the road to listen to myself preaching, and the preachers whom I have enjoyed most have been very different indeed in their method and style. But my business is not to describe them but to state what I believe to be right, however imperfectly I have put my own precepts into practice. I can only hope that the result will be of some help, and especially to young preachers called to this greatest of all tasks, and especially in these sad and evil times. With many others I pray that "The Lord of the harvest may thrust forth" many mighty preachers to proclaim 'the unsearchable riches of Christ!'

Studies in the Sermon on the Mount

A spiritual classic, this detailed and comprehensive study by one of the greatest expository preachers of our time explains Christ's teaching in the Sermon on the Mount and incisively applies it to the Christian life. With characteristic vigor and emotional vitality Dr. Lloyd-Jones presents a brilliant and detailed exposition of one of the best known but most frequently misunderstood passages of Scripture. Here is a comprehensive and exhaustive study of our Lord's words as recorded in Matthew chapter five. This beautiful portion of the Sermon on the Mount is carefully analysed, its contents outlined and thoughtfully arranged, and vastly rich and abundant truths are gleaned for the reader's spiritual nurture. The author brought a wealth of devoted study as well as a profound spiritual appreciation to the work of interpreting this greatest address of our delightful experience in meditation. It presents depth of thought in simple language and beauty of style and contains a veritable thesaurus of spiritual truths drawn from the entire Bible.

Spiritual Depression is one of the great classics of the modern Church and tackles the big question: If Christianity is such "good news" why are its followers often unhappy? Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones was possibly the greatest Christian preacher and teacher of the twentieth century. A medical doctor by training, Spiritual Depression draws together his professional understanding of the mind with a profound understanding of Christian teaching and the Bible. Spiritual Depression diagnoses the causes of the ill feeling that many Christians experience. It prescribes the practical care that is needed to lift people's spirits and bring them freedom, power and joy. Spiritual health is possible and this book explains how everyone can grasp it for themselves.

The House

The house sits on the Denbigh Moors of North Wales. Within it, something waits. Something cruel but patient. Something that cannot be denied or killed. Doug and Joanne Moore have moved to North Wales with their two daughters, eight-year-old Raine and four-year-old Ivy. They hope to make a fresh start in the cheap house next to the lake. Perhaps there, Doug can defeat his demons and control his drinking. Almost immediately, a strange doll begins tormenting Ivy, threatening the child with a terrible end. Doug's attempt to rid his family of the doll turns ugly when the worried father is himself attacked by a creature out of local nightmare-an eighteenth-century revenant known as Nanny Moon. When Ivy vanishes, Detective Gary Philips of the CID is called on to investigate the apparent abduction. Together, he and Doug find themselves battling something they cannot fully understand, playing a game for the highest stakes possible: Doug's family. A haunting tale of centuries-old evil and rage, The House combines police thrillers and suspense with a horror as chilling as the North Wales Moors.

Evangelistic Sermons at Aberavon

From the outset of his ministry in South Wales in 1927 Dr. Lloyd-Jones was an evangelistic preacher, as can be seen in this collection of 21 sermons from his ministry there. As with the early preaching of George Whitefield and Robert M'Cheyne, they show why the gospel is the most urgent, glorious and transforming of all messages. As a book specifically on the subject of conversion and the beginning of the Christian life, the publishers believe this will be one of the most popular and valuable of all the Lloyd-Jones titles. - Back cover.
