It’s finally her time to make a difference. Brenda Sheffield Rivers can hardly contain her excitement when the local hospital invites her to host a fundraiser at Sheffield Bed and Breakfast for cancer research. With so many ideas – she is spoilt for choice! After planning an elaborate Masquerade Gala, the night is full of dancing, juggling, music, card playing and good vibes. Until a guest slumps over the casino table – dead. This is more than just a sugar rush. All suspicion points to a new face, Cary Buckley, who has just opened a new real estate office in the town. Detective Mac Rivers launches an investigation into this death, but Cary is insisting that he was only stepping in to help out the dessert caterer, Hope Williams. Everyone here is wearing a mask – masquerading more than just the truth.

This volume is a comprehensive, state-of-the-science treatment of the acquisition of different Indo- and Non-Indo-European languages in different contexts (i.e., L1, L2, L3/Ln, bi/multilingual language, heritage languages, pathology and language impairment and sign language acquisition) conducted within the generative framework. It also encompasses the diversity of methodologies and issues that can be found with contemporary research in the field. The different chapters contain original research from several different angles and provide a basis for dialogue between researchers working on diverse projects with the aim to further our understanding of how languages are acquired and, at the same time, refine and propose new theoretical constructs, such as complexity of linguistic features as a relevant factor forming children’s, adult’s and bilingual’s acquisition of syntactic, morphological, lexical and phonological structures.

When siblings Joshua and Fuchsia Hilton rediscover their late Aunt Leila’s diamond ring, they soon find out about its hidden powers. When Leila’s old lover, Peter, chases them out of their small Massachusetts town in pursuit of the powerful ring, they end up in the hidden, mystical land of the Starlight Crescents. Exploring the land, the siblings encounter some special residents, and discover more rings with special powers. However, they also find out about Peter’s agenda to destroy all the rings to power the most forbidden gem of all: the Shadow Ring. As the grandiose festival of the land, 'The Gala on the Night,' approaches, news of Peter’s return to the Starlight Crescents quickly spreads, along with speculation about how Aunt Leila truly died. As they venture, the siblings begin to discover secrets of their aunt’s past, and slowly begin to wonder: are they guarding the rings from the right person?
