La construcción del lenguaje matemático
En las dos últimas décadas vienen produciéndose trabajos desde la perspectiva epistemológica de la matemática como lenguaje, en los que se pone de relieve la importancia que tienen en el aprendizaje matemático los procesos de simbolización. La construcción del lenguaje matemático se ubica en esa línea. Fruto de la experiencia de años de docencia en primaria y secundaria, la propuesta de trabajo en el aula que se ofrece en este texto conjuga una lectura diferente de la naturaleza misma de las matemáticas escolares con la consideración del aprendizaje matemático como apropiación progresiva e intencional de recursos intelectuales por parte de quien aprende. Y hace confluir ambos aspectos en un ambiente de aula en el que se enfatiza la enseñanza indirecta, la adecuación a la diversidad interna y el trabajo cooperativo.

Las matemáticas son de las pocas materias de estudio que nunca han pasado desapercibidas en el ámbito escolar.
