Methylene blue (MB) is a biocompatible and environmentally friendly material that has been widely used in clinical and biomedical research fields for over a century. In addition, it also has wide applications in other fields, such as dyeing and finishing industry, aquaculture industry, photocatalysis and food industry. This landmark publication is unique as it covers MB-mediated in vivo fluorescence, photoacoustic imaging and light-induced cancer therapy. The optical properties and photothermal effect of MB are also systematically described.
Cancer is fast becoming one of the main causes of death worldwide. Unfortunately many cases are diagnosed at an advanced incurable stage, and these lives are usually lost. Early diagnosis and treatment are very important for increasing disease curability. In recent years, novel techniques for cancer diagnosis and therapy have been developed, and nanobiomedicine appears to show the most promising results. The application of nanotechnology to biology and medicine in cancer diagnosis is termed nanobiomedicine. Nanoparticles 1-100 nm in size usually have unique physical and/or chemical properties, and this has attracted great attention in the cancer research. Preparation and biomedical applicatio...
This two-part multivolume set provides a comprehensive overview of current achievements in biomedical applications of nanotechnology, including stem cell based regenerative medicine, medical imaging, cell targeting, drug delivery, and photothermal/photodynamic cancer therapy. New approaches in early cancer diagnosis and treatment are introduced with extensive experimental results. In particular, some novel materials have been synthesized with new properties that are most effective in cancer therapy. Some of the key issues are also addressed with these recent discoveries such as bio safety and bio degradability, that are essential in the success of nano medicine. An important aspect of this bo...
Medicinal herbs and trees are some of the most trusted sources of traditional cures for most common diseases, even in the present day. The onset of COVID- 19 has increased the popularity of medicinal and herbal plants as well as their products over modern medicines in several instances. There is a considerable gap between demand and supply as most of these plants are not conventionally cultivated and are collected from forests. Most of the knowledge of the identification and utilization of medicinal and herbal plants is orally passed on from one generation to another and only occasionally documented. Propagation to Pharmacopeia: Modern Approaches in Medicinal Plants explores various aspects ...
This book intends to provide an up-to-date information in the field of nanobiomedicine. The focus of the book is on the basic concepts and recent developments in the field of nanotechnology. This book covers a broad spectrum of nanomaterials processing, structural characteristics, and related properties and will include bio-probes, medical imaging, drug delivery, and tumor diagnosis. Critical issues are addressed in a straightforward manner so those with no technical background and university students can benefit from the information. Furthermore, many novel concepts in nanomaterials are explained in light of current theories. An important aspect of the book lies on its wide coverage in practical biomedical applications. Not only are the cutting-edge technologies in modern medicine introduced, but also unique materials applications in many clinical areas.
The use of micro / nanotechnology in cell and tissue engineering, and especially for cell and tissue preservation, is at the peak of its activity now, with scientific output expected to continue growing in the coming years.Micro and nanotechnologies have induced paradigm shifts in many scientific fields, and as featured in this edited volume, they are having important impact in the field of cryomedicine. The book gives an overview of the recent progress in implementing multiscale (micro and nanoscale) technologies to improve the outcome of various cryomedical applications including cryosurgery, cryopreservation, lyopreservation and to understand the fundamental engineering and science underpinning the applications. This is the first book that will provide both an introductory and in-depth account of applying the multiscale technologies in cryomedicine.

Some of the key issues are also addressed with these recent discoveries such as bio safety and bio degradability, that are essential in the success of nano medicine. An important aspect of this book is the introduction of nanotechnology to the medical communities that are searching for new treatments of cancer, therefore breaking barriers between the physical and medical sciences so that more MDs will be able to appreciate the new discoveries and establishments in medical diagnoses and therapies capable of tackling major clinical issues.
What is a wound, how does it heal, and how can we prevent scarring? The concept of wound healing has puzzled humans even before the advent of modern medicine. In recent years, bioengineering has tackled the problems of cancer, tissue engineering and molecular manufacturing. The broad spectrum of technologies developed in these fields could potentially transform the wound care practice. However, entering the world of wound healing research is challenging — a broad spectrum of knowledge is required to understand wounds and improve healing. This book provides an essential introduction of the field of wound healing to bioengineers and scientists outside the field of medicine. Written by leading researchers from various fields, this book is a comprehensive primer that gives readers a holistic understanding of the field of wound biology, diagnostics and treatment technologies.
