The two-volume set LNCS 8523-8524 constitutes the refereed proceedings of the First International Conference on Learning and Collaboration Technologies, LCT 2014, held as part of the 16th International Conference on Human-Computer Interaction, HCII 2014, in Heraklion, Crete, Greece in June 2014, jointly with 13 other thematically similar conferences. The total of 1476 papers and 220 posters presented at the HCII 2014 conferences were carefully reviewed and selected from 4766 submissions. These papers address the latest research and development efforts and highlight the human aspects of design and use of computing systems. The papers thoroughly cover the entire field of human-computer interaction, addressing major advances in knowledge and effective use of computers in a variety of application areas. The total of 93 contributions included in the LCT proceedings were carefully reviewed and selected for inclusion in this two-volume set. The 45 papers included in this volume are organized in the following topical sections: virtual and augmented learning environments; mobile and ubiquitous learning; technology@school; collaboration, learning and training.

Em uma antiga chácara, em Taubaté, uma pequena cidade do interior de São Paulo, desenvolve-se uma trama inesperada. Quatro crianças, durante uma brincadeira na mata, descobrem um tesouro de família, oriundo de gerações passadas. Para mantê-lo, o seu descobridor se vê diante de concessões que julgava capaz de cumprir. O desaparecimento do tesouro e o seu achado muitos anos depois, quando todos já não se lembravam dele, revela os laços familiares que uniam esses irmãos e que pareciam ter se esvaído ao longo do tempo.

Projeto iniciado em 2018, Passagens de uma vida solitária II reúne as memórias do narrador, nascido em Taubaté, interior de São Paulo, na década de 1940, e objetiva, por meio da escrita, resgatar histórias que há muito se perderam no tempo, a fim de deixar, como uma espécie de legado a seus descendentes, um pouco sobre sua trajetória. Ao longo dessa viagem, o narrador-personagem leva o leitor não só à chácara em que passara sua infância e da qual se recorda com afeto e saudade, mas também ao passado de seus pais, avós, irmãos, colegas, amigos, amores, alegrias e tristezas que vão, pouco a pouco, tecendo a linha que norteia a história. A narrativa oscila entre o real e a ficção, lembranças e fotografias, cartas e bilhetes e convida o leitor a passear, junto ao narrador, pelas veredas que se abrem em suas memórias, em um movimento de vaivém que combina pequenos relatos com fluxos de consciência, desvelando um pouco essas passagens do viajante solitário que guia essa viagem.
