Function Spaces and Applications
This seminar is a loose continuation of two previous conferences held in Lund (1982, 1983), mainly devoted to interpolation spaces, which resulted in the publication of the Lecture Notes in Mathematics Vol. 1070. This explains the bias towards that subject. The idea this time was, however, to bring together mathematicians also from other related areas of analysis. To emphasize the historical roots of the subject, the collection is preceded by a lecture on the life of Marcel Riesz.
Measurements of Neutrino Mass
This volume offers a valuable insight into various aspects of the ongoing work directed at measuring neutrino mass. It took twenty years to refute the assertions of Bethe and Peierls that neutrinos were not observable, but it has since been realised that much can be learnt from these particles. Harmonic Functions on Trees and Buildings
This volume presents the proceedings of the workshop "Harmonic Functions on Graphs" held at the Graduate Centre of CUNY in the autumn of 1995. The main papers present material from four minicourses given by leading experts: D. Cartwright, A. Figà-Talamanca, S. Sawyer, and T. Steger. These minicrouses are introductions which gradually progress to deeper and less known branches of the subject. One of the topics treated is buildings, which are discrete analogues of symmetric spaces of arbitrary rank; buildings of rank are trees. Harmonic analysis on buildings is a fairly new and important field of research. One of the minicourses discusses buildings from the combinatorial perspective and another examines them from the p-adic perspective. the third minicourse deals with the connections of trees with p-adic analysis, and the fourth deals with random walks, ie., with the probabilistic side of harmonic functions on trees. The book also contains the extended abstracts of 19 of the 20 lectures given by the participants on their recent results. These abstracts, well detailed and clearly understandable, give a good cross-section of the present state of research in the field.
Graphs and Discrete Dirichlet Spaces
The spectral geometry of infinite graphs deals with three major themes and their interplay: the spectral theory of the Laplacian, the geometry of the underlying graph, and the heat flow with its probabilistic aspects. In this book, all three themes are brought together coherently under the perspective of Dirichlet forms, providing a powerful and unified approach. The book gives a complete account of key topics of infinite graphs, such as essential self-adjointness, Markov uniqueness, spectral estimates, recurrence, and stochastic completeness. Descriptional Complexity of Formal Systems
This book constitutes the proceedings of the 20th International Conference on Descriptional Complexity of Formal Systems, DCFS 2018, held in Halifax, NS, Canada, in July 2018. The 19 full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 24 submissions. DCFS is an annual international working conference concerning the descriptional complexity of formal systems and structures and its applications. Topics of interest are related to all aspects of descriptional complexity and much more.
Die problematische Neuerfindung der italienischen Rechten
Markus K. Grimm liefert eine fundierte politische Einordnung der Parteien und Repräsentanten der italienischen Rechten seit 1994 und entwirft ein Modell zur Untersuchung der Veränderung von bestehenden extremen Parteien in Parteiensystemen. In dieser archetypischen Fallstudie, einer historischen Längsschnittuntersuchung des rechten Parteienspektrums, werden am Beispiel der Alleanza Nazionale (AN) Kriterien herausgearbeitet und erprobt, anhand derer auch Entwicklungen in anderen Parteiensystemen analysiert werden können. Die radikale Veränderung der politischen Landschaft in Italien zeigt deutlicher als in anderen Ländern, welche Möglichkeitsräume sich dadurch Parteien des politischen Randes eröffnen. Die AN steht dabei idealtypisch für den Versuch der Orientierung in die politische Mitte.

Illiberal Politics and Religion in Europe and Beyond
Globale Migrationsbewegungen, Sicherheitsbedrohungen und soziale Umwälzungen haben in den vergangenen Jahren den Aufstieg populistischer rechter Parteien und Bewegungen in Europa und im transatlantischen Raum befördert. Religiöse Akteure stellen potenzielle Allianzpartner für diese Gruppierungen dar.
