Os garotos cresceram e o filho da jovem enveredou na vida politica e foi vereador, prefeito, deputado estatual e por fim governador sempre levando na aba do chapéu o irmão cujo objetivo era gozar a vida. Uma dissidência levou um deles induzido por inimigos políticos a arquitetar um plano para desestabilizar o então governador, com um cheque indevidamente preenchido, porém autentico. O chefe de estado pediu ajuda a um amigo, policial federal para ajuda-lo a deslindar o caso e este após investigações chegou ao chefe do bando, outro deputado que já havia conseguido abrir uma investigação na Assembleia Legislativa para derrubar o governador. Durante o desenrolar das démarches o rapaz conhece uma conterrânea e se enamoram, formando o par amoroso da trama.
