They were put in a vehicle and escorted by the German occupying forces to a street nearby, where all five were lined up and executed. The corpses were left behind as the Germans left the scene. Whether by accident or betrayal, these men had fallen in to the clutches of the Sicherheitsdienst, the Nazi intelligence service. Llibre de la Cort del Justícia de València
Desde la creación del cargo en 1245, el Justicia de València fue una institución clave del municipio, como juez ordinario civil y criminal en primera instancia. Este oficial local debió llevar unos registros sobre su actividad, unos libros que recogían una documentación muy diversa, desde procesos criminales con declaraciones de testigos y sentencias, hasta embargos por deudas y ventas de prendas. La serie de libros, que debió de empezar con la creación del cargo, sólo se conserva desde 1280, probablemente por las pérdidas ocasionadas por el incendio del archivo de la ciudad en 1307. Este volumen recoge los documentos comprendidos entre 1287-1288, 1298. Con todo, los libros correspondientes al siglo XIII constituyen una fuente documental extraordinaria, que permito acercarse a la vida cotidiana y a la lengua de las primeras generaciones de pobladores de la ciudad y de sus alrededores, provenientes de Cataluña y de Aragón.
