Der Einsatz von Steuerungsinstrumenten im Umweltschutz in Deutschland, Südafrika, der Volksrepublik China und Saudi Arabien im Vergleich
Marius Melzer (geb. 1985) hat erforscht, mit welchen Steuerungsinstrumenten Deutschland, Sudafrika, die Volksrepublik China und Sudafrika im Umweltschutz agieren. Das Kernergebnis der Untersuchung ist, dass nur in Deutschland alle Steuerungsinstrumente (Hierarchie, okonomische Anreize, Kooperation und Information) umfassend zum Umweltschutz eingesetzt werden. In den anderen untersuchten Staaten fuhren das Fehlen der Demokratie sowie eines materiell hohen Wohlstandsniveaus zu einer geringeren Nutzung der okonomischen Anreize, dazu bieten die untersuchten Autokratien kaum Partizipationsmoglichkeiten fur die Zivilgesellschaft. Dadurch erhalt die Verwaltung weniger Informationen und fur die umweltbelastenden Unternehmen bestehen geringere Motivationen in den Umweltschutz zu investieren als in Deutschland.

Führen die medialen und digitalen Transformationen, wie sie insbesondere in spätmodernen kapitalistischen Gesellschaften in den letzten Jahren in rasanter Geschwindigkeit stattgefunden haben, auch zu fundamentalen Veränderungen kindlichen Lebens und Erlebens? Und falls ja, in welcher Weise und mit welchen Konsequenzen? Obwohl diese Fragen gesellschaftlich wie pädagogisch bedeutsam sind, wurden Veränderungen kindlicher Lebenswelten und Lebenslagen durch Technik in den Folgen für kindliche Subjektivität in der deutschsprachigen Kindheitsforschung bislang wenig untersucht. Das Handbuch gibt einen systematischen Überblick über zentrale Zusammenhänge und die interdisziplinär geführten Diskurse – ausgehend von Analysen zum Verhältnis von Gesellschaftsentwicklung, Technik und Digitalisierungsprozessen über Ergebnisse der Kindheitsforschung bis zu Fragen der Initiierung und Beförderung emanzipatorischer Bildungs- wie Lernprozesse.
Protest
The history of the last fifty (or 100 or 150) years has been accompanied by a constant flow of statements, of practices, of declarations of dissatisfaction with regard to prevailing conditions. When something is able to reach from the margins of society into its very center - something mostly unorganized and unruly, sometimes violent, rarely controllable - it forges ahead in the form of a protest. This takes place in (real or virtual) spaces and is accomplished by (likewise real or virtual) bodies. The spaces and the bodies to which the protest relates are the spaces of politics and society. It masterfully and creatively draws on contemporary signs and symbols, subverting and transforming them to engender new aesthetics and meanings, thereby opening up a space that eludes control. From a position of powerlessness, irony, subversion, and provocation are its tools for pricking small but palpable pinholes into the controlling system of rule. This book presents and reflects on present and past forms of protest and looks at marginalized communities? practices of resistance from a wide variety of perspectives.

Inter- and Transcultural Learning in the Context of Canadian Young Adult Fiction
Within the past few years transcultural learning has become one of the key terms in TEFL theory. Central concerns in current research include differentiating between inter- and transcultural learning, navigating processes of understanding otherness, and assessing cultural competences. Using these aspects this study investigates texts recommended for cultural learning and key components of implementing literature in ELT. The results call for a more holistic perception of alterity and argue in favour of transcultural literature as a basis for transcultural learning. All of this dissertation is in English.
