Notes from Father's Heart

This book originated with the desire of a father's heart to encourage his children to mature in their fellowship with God. When his children grew up and moved away to begin life on their own, this father thought, as a parent sometimes does, "Did I teach my children everything I possibly could to help them live a steadfast Christian life?" Using notes from his prayer journal as a guide, the author wrote devotional essays, illustrated by his own experiences in following God, and sent them to his children and their families-words of encouragement, as well as teachings about faith, spiritual maturity, and prayer. This book is an endeavor to show that God desires to be in daily fellowship with each of us.

Right Thinking for a Culture in Chaos

Find the Clarity Only God Provides In an age of moral and spiritual decline, you will inevitably face pressure to view truth as something subjective, shifting, and ultimately unknowable. Yet the Word of God stands in bold contrast against this postmodern sentiment. The absolute truth of Scripture is timeless, extending even to today’s most heated controversies. From the bestselling team behind Right Thinking in a World Gone Wrong comes Right Thinking for a Culture in Chaos: a biblical response to contemporary issues like gender identity, government authority, deconstruction of faith, critical race theory, and more. Each chapter illuminates how the principles of God’s Word equip you to honor Him in an increasingly corrupt world. You’ll also be encouraged by the profound hope of the gospel of Jesus Christ—the only remedy for humanity’s brokenness. No matter what society teaches, God’s Word cuts through the haze of confusion with the light of truth. Right Thinking for a Culture in Chaos encourages you to ground your convictions in Christ and His all-sufficient Word.

If you enjoy being deceived by a book, you will love "One Kill Short." "One Kill Short" is a mystery/crime novel which has mastered the art of misdirection and leaves the reader asking "why didn't I see it coming?", when the actual conspirators are ultimately revealed. It is a story about a young lawyer who pursues a civil case for damages against a former war hero, current head of a large criminal enterprise, for the attempted contract murder of his client. The plot thickens when for unknown reasons, local law enforcement refuse to prosecute. Along the way a forbidden romance developes which ultimately meets an unexpected end. Although "One Kill Short" is largely inspired by a true story, it is fiction. Purposeful fiction. The names and places in this quasi indictment of law enforcement and the civil and criminal judicial systems have been changed to protect the writer, as in his words "there are no innocents with which to be concerned."

Service-learning is an exciting pedagogy and field of study, offering insight into how academic study and community engagement blend to create social change. In its most traditional conceptualization, servicelearning activities typically manifest within communities where outside individuals address a need. Service learning is purported to have a transforming effect on individual student perspectives by providing students the opportunity to interact with people and enter into situations that allow students to test their predisposition towards others. However, the literature on the impact of service-learning on participants' acceptance of diversity and development of open-mindedness reports mi...

Teaching Gloria E. Anzaldúa

Gloria Evangelina Anzaldúa—theorist, Chicana, feminist—famously called on scholars to do work that matters. This pronouncement was a rallying call, inspiring scholars across disciplines to become scholar-activists and to channel their intellectual energy and labor toward the betterment of society. Scholars and activists alike have encountered and expanded on these pathbreaking theories and concepts first introduced by Anzaldúa in Borderlands/La frontera and other texts. Teaching Gloria E. Anzaldúa is a pragmatic and inspiring offering of how to apply Anzaldúa’s ideas to the classroom and in the community rather than simply discussing them as theory. The book gathers nineteen essays...

This handbook illustrates how education scholars employ Critical Race Theory (CRT) as a framework to bring attention to issues of race and racism in education. It is the first authoritative reference work to provide a truly comprehensive description and analysis of the topic, from the defining conceptual principles of CRT in Law that gave shape to its radical underpinnings to the political and social implications of the field today. It is divided into six sections, covering innovations in educational research, policy and practice in both schools and in higher education, and the increasing interdisciplinary nature of critical race research. New chapters broaden the scope of theoretical lenses to include LatCrit, AsianCrit and Critical Race Feminism, as well as coverage of Discrit Studies, Research Methods, and other recent updates to the field. This handbook remains the definitive statement on the state of critical race theory in education and on its possibilities for the future.
