Teoria e fenomenologia dell'Individuo assoluto, scritto fra il 1917, quando Evola venne richiamato in guerra, e il 1924, quando era a Roma e ormai si interessava già ad altri temi (arte, dottrine orientali, esoterismo), era costituito da "300 facciate formato protocollo riempite per 4/5 in manoscritto". L'opera apparve presso Bocca in due tomi, prima la Teoria (1927), poi la Fenomenologia (1930). Dopo la seconda guerra mondiale, durante la sua permanenza nell'ospedale militare di Bologna, Julius Evola sintetizzò e aggiornò la Teoria, ma non effettuò la medesima operazione per Fenomenologia che apparve nella stesura originaria all'inizio del 1974, pochi mesi prima della sua morte. Quella che qui si presenta è dunque sempre l'edizione del 1930, corretta nei refusi, aggiornata nella bibliografia e con vari apparati critici.
