Collingwood and the Crisis of Western Civilisation
This book argues that R.G. Collingwood's philosophy is best understood as a diagnosis of and response to a crisis of Western civilisation. The various and complementary aspects of the crisis of civilisation are explored and Collingwood is demonstrated to be working in the traditions of Romanticism and ‘historicism'. On these subjects, the theories of Collingwood and Ortega y Gasset are contrasted with those of Nietzsche and Weber.

History as Thought and Action
This is the first book-length study of the relationship between Benedetto Croce (1866-1952), Giovanni Gentile (1875-1944), Guido de Ruggiero (1888-1948) and Robin George Collingwood (1889-1943). Though the relationship between these highly influential philosophers has often been discussed, it has never been studied comprehensively. On the basis of published and unpublished writings this study carefully reconstructs their debate on the relationship between thought and action, following their explorations of art, history, philosophy and action in the context of the First World War and the rise of Fascism and Nazism. This bibliography on Sren Kierkegaard carries on the work of Jens Himmelstrup's international bibliography (1962). It collates everything written about Kierkegaard - books, contributions to edited collections, and journals - and also features an appendix of primary text editions and translations. Discussion notes, reviews, etc., are catalogued according to the items they refer to. The bibliography contains more than 5,600 primary entries and is a testament to the expanding worldwide interest in the Danish philosopher. It also remedies the deeply-felt need for a collected overview of the extensive literature on Kierkegaard.

A Companion to Joachim of Fiore
Joachim of Fiore (c.1135-1202) remains one of the most fascinating and enigmatic figures of medieval Christianity. In his own time, he was an influential advisor to the mighty and powerful, widely respected for his prophetic exegesis and decoding of the apocalypse. In modern times, many thinkers, from Thomas Müntzer to Friedrich Engels, have hailed him as a prophet of progress and revolution. Even present-day theologians, philosophers and novelists were inspired by Joachim’s vision of a Third Age of the Holy Spirit. However, at no time was Joachim an uncontroversial figure. Soon after his death, the church authorities became suspicious about the explosive potential of his theology, while more recently historians held him accountable for the fateful progressivism of Western Civilization. Abbot Joachim of Fiore and Joachimism
In the articles included in this collection, Professor Daniel argues that Abbot Joachim of Fiore was a disciple of Bernard of Clairvaux whose tertius status was reformist, not millenialist. Like the other reformists, Gerhoch of Reichersberg and Hildegard of Bingen, Joachim looked forward to the coming of a thoroughly reformed, holy church to be achieved in the near future by reform of the episcopate and the clergy. The status of the Holy Spirit was the culmination of the preceding status, not a radically new beginning. Apocalypticism in both its reformist and in its imperialist versions was part of the mainstream, despite the efforts of the schoolmen to suppress it. The author also sheds significant new light on apocalyptic thinking in the mid-fourteenth century with a thorough analysis of Henry of Kirkstede's vade mecum, Cambridge Corpus Christi 404 and his first edition of Henry's De antichristo et de fine mundi. This study, and three others, are published here for the first time.
