Recent decades have also witnessed fundamental progress in understanding of the pathophysiology of spinal cord diseases, treatment options, neurosurgical procedures, and endovascular treatments. Jacob M. (Mathias?) Weik (1756-1835) was "...born most likely in Pennsylvania, the son of a German immigrant..." He married Susannah Moir (Myers) in 1783 and died in Lincoln (now Catawba) County, North Carolina. Descendants lived in most of the United States.
