Satan’s Playground chronicles the rise and fall of the tumultuous and lucrative gambling industry that developed just south of the U.S.-Mexico border in the early twentieth century. As prohibitions against liquor, horse racing, gambling, and prostitution swept the United States, the vice industry flourished in and around Tijuana, to the extent that reformers came to call the town “Satan’s Playground,” unintentionally increasing its licentious allure. A finales del siglo XIX se publicó México a través de los siglos, obra dirigida por Vicente Riva Palacio que abarca la historia de México desde el pasado prehispánico hasta el triunfo del movimiento liberal. Javier Garciadiego retoma esta empresa con México (moderno) a través de sus décadas, serie para la que ha convocado a distinguidos especialistas con el fin de examinar los procesos y eventos más relevantes de cada década del siglo XX y los albores del XXI, unidos por el dígito del año en el que se conmemoran.
