There's something for everyone in this volume containing the winning and highly commended entries in Morrison Mentoring's 2015 Short Story Writing Competition. The theme of the competition was ""Flourish"", and authors were invited to respond to that theme, however tangentially. The inclusion of a new category for speculative fiction this year meant the stories were wonderfully diverse. Information Retrieval Technology
This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed post-proceedings of the Asia Information Retrieval Symposium, AIRS 2004, held in Beijing, China, in October 2004. The 28 revised full papers presented have passed through two rounds of reviewing and improvement and were selected from 106 papers submitted. All current issues in information retrieval are addressed, ranging from algorithmic and methodological issues to application in various fields. Particular emphasis is given to aspects of Asian languages; text retrieval and Web information retrieval are addressed in several papers.
Giannozzo Manetti's New Testament
In Giannozzo Manetti’s New Testament Annet den Haan analyses the Latin translation of the Greek New Testament made by the fifteenth-century humanist Giannozzo Manetti (1396-1459). The book includes the first edition of Manetti’s text. Manetti’s translation was the first since Jerome’s Vulgate, and it predates Erasmus’ Novum Instrumentum by half a century. Written at the Vatican court in the 1450s, it is a unique example of humanist philology applied to the sacred text in the pre-Reformation era. Den Haan argues that Manetti’s translation was influenced by Valla’s Annotationes, and compares Manetti’s translation method with his treatise on correct translation, Apologeticus (1458).
