Knjiga je zbornik četrtega simpozija o geografskih informacijskih sistemih, ki je v organizaciji Znanstvenoraziskovalnega centra SAZU ter soorganizaciji Zveze geodetov Slovenije in Zveze geografskih društev Slovenije potekal 29. septembra 1998 v Ljubljani.
