This book is a compilation of documents created in 1857 during the presidency of Ignacio Comonfort by the Office of Promotion, Colonisation, Industry and Commerce. The documents outline a schedule of projects dealing with the construction of schools, bridges, roads and railroads. Some sections discuss the draining of the Valley of Mexico, the history of colonisation and the money supply. Twenty maps, numerous charts and drawings accompany these documents. The illustrations include tables that demonstrate the trends of population and development, city plans and architectural drawings, maps of proposed rail lines and an ethnographic map.
