Piracy at Sea
Over more than three decades starting in the 1990s, thousands of robberies, acts of piracy, and other violent attacks against merchant vessels have been reported in many of the world’s waters. The grave danger of piracy poses a direct threat not only to the security and efficiency of marine transportation, but more seriously, to the lives of the men and woman carrying out this important function. This book collates ideas brought up by seafarers, shipowners, industry practitioners, government officials, academics, and researchers exchanged views and insights on the complex web of underlying factors behind the phenomenon of piracy. Piracy at Sea brings together a wide spectrum of maritime stakeholders, who present different aspects of the problem in an open manner and share their thoughts on how to deal with a truly complex situation. SAGUS is a series of books that document a life, a life that proceeded it and a life thereafter. Each volume covers a period of time or an event and they run chronologically. The uniqueness of the series is that it uses as contemporaneous records, diaries, notes, images, books, archives and photographs most of which belong to the author and his family. In other words the volumes are the closest that can be achieved to real-time testimony with a true record and insight to the times. There is no rewriting of history and hence they avoid this deficiency of most memoirs. Well almost because even when the basis of the writing is a diary, it is of course one person’s view and interpretation of an event. Unwissen schützt vor Strafe nicht ... - besonders wenn's um Gefahrgut geht! Dafür hat der Gesetzgeber gesorgt, aber wer kennt sie schon, die vielen Gesetze, Regeln und Verordnungen und wer kann Änderungen zeitnah umsetzen? Für die Ausbildung von Gefahrgutbeauftragten und die regelmäßige Unterrichtung der beauftragten Personen wurde in Zusammenarbeit mit einem Logistik- und Gefahrgutfachmann, Dipl.-Ing. für Transportwesen/Dipl.- Wirtschaftsing. für Seeverkehr M. Bochmann, eine Foliensammlung entwickelt. Die Folien wurden mehrfarbig gestaltet, um Zusammenhänge übersichtlich und didaktisch hervorzuheben. Die Themen decken Fragen im Zusammenhang mit dem Transport gefährlicher Güter auf der Straße, der Schiene und im Seeverkehr ab. Die Foliensammlung enthält den aktuellen Stand der Gefahrgutvorschriften inklusive der 4. Änderungsverordnung für GGVS und GGVE.
