Baptismal and Marriage Records, Rev. John Waldschmidt
Rev. Waldschmidt's entries, which pertain to the congregations of Cocalico (Swamp), Weiseichenland (formerly Sebastian Reicher's Church), Modecreek, and Zeltenreich, are arranged in four separate alphabetical groupings. The first part, baptismal records, gives the name of the child, parents' names, date of birth and date of baptism, and the names of sponsors. Marriages come next, and they state the name of the bride and groom, the date of the marriage, and, frequently, the name(s) of the parents. Each marriage is listed twice, alphabetically according to the surname of both the bride and groom. The third section of the book lists the various communion services performed by Rev. Waldschmidt, with the names of the communicants. Finally, a separate listing of brides and grooms from official Pennsylvania marriage licenses signed by the pastor between 1784-1786 concludes the volume.

The interplay of migration and labour markets is a phenomenon too diverse to be explained by a single theory. Thus, this volume, based on contributions presented during a workshop in Saarbrucken, Germany, brings together experts in migration research from economics, political science, and sociology. The rationale for choosing the topic is the existence of misconceptions and prejudices in public debate about migration. The contributions investigate the main effects of migration on labour markets for both, the home and the host country, and discuss normative, positive, and instrumental aspects of migration from different perspectives.

The Floating Strip Micromegas Detector
This book discusses a novel and high-rate-capable micro pattern gaseous detector of the Micromegas (MICRO-MEsh GAS detector) type. It provides a detailed characterization of the performance of Micromegas detectors on the basis of measurements and simulations, along with an in-depth examination of analysis and reconstruction methods. The accurate and efficient detection of minimum ionizing particles in high-rate background environments is demonstrated. The excellent performance determined here for these lightweight detectors will make possible the live medical imaging of a patient during ion-beam treatment.

The European Social Model is at a crossroad. Although from the 1990s onwards, the threat of an imminent crisis shaped much of the rhetoric surrounding the future of the welfare state, disagreement within the academic community remains. What is however increasingly clear is that with the global financial crisis and the Euro crisis that followed it, the challenges the European Social Model faces have become more acute and demand action. This volume launches a multifaceted inquiry into these challenges. Ezra, Nehemiah, and the Construction of Early Jewish Identity
The post-exilic of Persian period showed a transition in the religion in ancient Israel from Yahwism(s) to Judaism(s). The events of exile and return made it impossible to completely fall back on the traditional religious identity. The essays in this volume try to reconstruct the path taken in that transition. The characters of Ezra and Nehemiah are generally seen as playing a formative role in this process. By reading texts from the biblical books supposedly written by Ezra and Nehemiah in a religio-historical context, new light falls on the process of change.
