The Builders, Baby Boomers, Generation X, and Millennials—all make up workforces in every type of industry all over the world. The generational gaps are numerous and distinctly different between each age group, and Millennials have gotten a reputation for being particularly unique and often challenging. In this updated and expanded Second Edition of the popular guidebook Managing the Millennials, you'll see how Millennial traits are the same around the globe. The way you parent, the clothes you buy, your relationships with your boss and your daughter, your attitude to money and sex, are, to an extraordinary extent, defined by the era into which you were born. Parents, the church, teachers and employers think they understand youngsters because they, too, were young once. But adults no longer live in the world that existed when they were teenagers. We may occupy the same space, home, classroom or office but we live in different worlds. And these worlds often collide. We've moved in one century from a 'built to last' to a 'throwaway' society. No wonder age differences are so vast. In this book you will discover your generation and those of the people who make up your life. Once you understand what makes them, and you, tick, the 'gen gap' begins to shrink. Fasten your seatbelt for a generational roller coaster ride - you may never think the same way again! In this book you'll understand why: your boss insists on endless meetings and conferences; your 20-something student doesn't want a 50-something computer teacher; you're in your 40s but still trying to prove yourself to Mom and Dad; your teacher should be learning from you.

A blueprint for managing people, not generations Unfairly Labeled challenges the very concept of "generational differences" as an unfair generalization, and offers a roadmap to intergenerational understanding. While acknowledging that generational stereotypes exist, author Jessica Kriegel argues that they are wrong—and that it's unreasonable to assume that the millions of people born in the same 20-year time span are motivated by the same things, attracted to the same things, and should be dealt with in the same way. Kriegel's experience as Organizational Developer at Oracle puts her squarely in the talent strategy realm, where she works to optimize leadership development, team effectivene...

Many leaders need to win (and thus humiliate others), need to get their way (and thus threaten others), need to be seen in a positive light (and thus blame others), need to give good news to those they report to (and thus intimidate others into fudging reports when necessary), and need to be seen as powerful in every setting (and thus speak condescendingly to others). Our Character at Work demonstrates that leadership is more effective and ethical when done in servant-led ways. How do you become a servant leader? It begins with your heart… Put everything you have into the care of your heart -- the hidden, causative, motivational you -- for everything you do flows from it. It is the real source of your outward life. It determines what your life amounts to. (Proverbs 4:23, author's paraphrase) Our Character at Work leads you on a personal journey, guiding you to an interior renovation of heart and soul that produces genuine and consistent servant leaders.
'Living Well' ...quenches thirst in life's voyage We are not an island unto ourselves. We live with people around us. Life is all about relationship. It is a balance between what we are and what we can be. A balance between what we want and what we need. We have all gone through low and high points in life. At the high points people around us share our happiness. At the low points we are alone, miserable and discouraged. For many years while I was in the Singapore Public Service, I sent out messages to my people. The messages served to rally people to a common cause, encourage and spur them on to achieve greater things. I have been blessed with encouraging feedback and testimonials@ and requests for these messages to be compiled into a book. I put them altogether in "Living Well". It is not about living it UP. It draws on the well of experience I have been through. A well we can draw from when are "thirsty". It offers encouragement for those seeking relief and respite from the toils in the voyage through life. It offers hope to those feeling hopeless. @ see pages x to xiii
