An exponential growth to medicine and therapeutic procedure has been possible only in modern science. The sciences in general are a post-Renaissance development. The disciplines developed in its methods have superseded those of previous traditions. Therapeutic traditions progressed in human biology, their practices helping to cure or alleviate some of the ailments perceived in the lore of human constitution. Whatever its interpretation, bio-physiology has a substantial species continuity enabling a social use for Traditional Therapies. A rationale for them within medicine and its science must be established. Investigating Chinese Acupuncture may suggest an approach to the scientific potential of other Traditional Therapeutics and, importantly, address the issue of public safety. Knowledge transmitted through European, Asian, Arab and Persian civilisations includes medical traditions that contributed to the Renaissance development of Medical Sciences. Acupuncture today is indeed a constructive metaphor for transacting and developing specific traditional therapeutic methods in Health Systems of nations, while acknowledging limitations and improving safe delivery.

伤寒论讲解与临床心得

Shang Han Lun was written in approx 200 AD and remains a seminal text in Chinese medicine literature and is mandatory study in all accredited courses of Chinese medicine today. It analyses the aetiology and pathogenesis of acute upper respiratory tract infections (the common cold, influenza, bronchitis, asthma) and describes the many permutations as well as subsequent complications. It is not just a study of coughs and colds but lays the groundwork for Chinese medical theory and its strategies of treatment. It also explains the consequences of incorrect treatment and discusses how the omission or addition of even one herb to a formula can affect its efficacy. This is the book that makes unde...

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is growing in popularity world-wide. Acupuncture and related techniques are useful tools for treating a spectrum of diseases. However, there are still many areas of controversy connected to it due to the fact that mechanisms of action of acupuncture are not entirely clear. Another debilitating element is the absence of a convincing model of sham acupuncture for a control group in clinical trials. Therefore, there are still inappropriate prejudice and unfamiliarity regarding acupuncture. I hope this book can contribute to guide the advance of this ancient medical art. The reader will here find texts wrote by authors from different parts of the world. The chapters cover strategic areas to collaborate with the consolidation of the knowledge in acupuncture. The main objective is to share elements to make acupuncture more and better offered at health systems worldwide.

The Best of Master Tung's Acupuncture

Although Master Tung's Acupuncture has been in the public domain since his untimely passing in 1975, very little information is available publicly on how to use the system in a practical and systematic way in English. In this book, I hope to guide my fellow colleagues into the intricacies of applying Master Tung Acupuncture in the clinic. Since I am also a practicing acupuncturist and deal with pain, women's health, and internal medicine problems quite frequently, I am sharing my clinical experience in this book and the "secret" of creating the protocols that I use daily, with modification. I also attempt to explain why I choose a particular protocol and the modification to it. In this book,...
