This book presents the joint post-proceedings of five international workshops organized by the Japanese Society for Artificial Intelligence, during the 19th Annual Conference JSAI 2005. The volume includes 5 award winning papers of the main conference, along with 40 revised full workshop papers, covering such topics as logic and engineering of natural language semantics, learning with logics, agent network dynamics and intelligence, conversational informatics and risk management systems with intelligent data analysis.
For this book, the editors invited contributions from indispensable research areas relevant to "chance discovery", which has been defined as the discovery of events significant for making a decision, and studied since 2000. The chapters contain contributions to identifying rare or hidden events and explaining their significance. The methods presented in this book are based on the interaction of human, machine, and humans’ living environment.
This book contains expanded versions of research papers presented at the international sessions of Annual Conference of the Japanese Society for Artificial Intelligence (JSAI), which was held online in June 2020. The JSAI annual conferences are considered key events for our organization, and the international sessions held at these conferences play a key role for the society in its efforts to share Japan’s research on artificial intelligence with other countries. In recent years, AI research has proved of great interest to business people. Chance discovery means discovering chances - the breaking points in systems, the marketing windows in business, etc. It involves determining the significance of some piece of information about an event and then using this new knowledge in decision making. The techniques developed combine data mining methods for finding rare but important events with knowledge management, groupware, and social psychology. The reader will find many applications, such as finding information on the Internet, recognizing changes in customer behavior, detecting the first signs of an imminent earthquake, etc. This first book dedicated to chance discovery covers the state of the art in the theory and methods and examines typical scenarios, and it thus appeals to researchers working on new techniques and algorithms and also to professionals dealing with real-world applications.
This book contains extended versions of research papers presented at the international sessions at the 35th Annual Conference of the Japanese Society for Artificial Intelligence (JSAI2021), which was held online from June 8–11, 2021. The JSAI annual conferences are considered key events for our organization, and the international sessions held at these conferences play a key role for the society in its efforts to share Japan’s research on artificial intelligence with other countries. The topics of the international sessions in JSAI2021 cover five categories: knowledge engineering, machine learning, agents, robots and real worlds, and human interface and education aid. From the papers submitted to those categories, papers of high quality were selected through the strict reviewing procedure. As a result, 19 papers are included in this book. From this book, readers can get an overview of recent Japan’s research on artificial intelligence.
