Author Nevin Gussack provides a fresh perspective on the Soviet deception plans during the Gorbachev period in the USSR (1985-1991). Under Gorbachev's rule, the Soviet Union supported the continued military buildup, war planning, subversion, and disinformation of the Red Army, KGB, and GRU. Even after the "fall" of communism in December 1991, Russia continued to position itself against American interests all over the world. Primary source documents, defector information, and secondary source periodicals, books, and journals document my contention that the CPSU under Gorbachev implemented the most ambitious deception program ever faced by the West since the NEP of Lenin. In this book, the rea...
Former KGB Major Anatoli Golitsyn was the subject of extensive controversy within the CIA during the 1960s and early 1970s. CIA officers surrounding former Counter-Intelligence Chief James J. Angleton were convinced that Golitsyn was correct in respect to false "splits" within the communist bloc. Other forces within the political and intelligence establishment lambasted Golitsyn and Angleton. Sadly, they were consigned to the realm of mental illness and paranoia and pushed out of the CIA. However, the historical evidence presented by Nevin clearly vindicates Golitsyn and Angleton. As the alliance develops between Red China and Russia, perhaps the Sino-Soviet "split" was vastly exaggerated by internationalist politicians, the practitioners of Realpolitik, and profit-hungry big businesses. This book provides a posthumous vindication for Major Golitsyn and James J. Angleton.
From the chaos of the First World War, during which Germany and Russia had fought each other to a standstill, there emerged two societies whose diametrically opposed ideologies of communism and fascism represented the opposite extremes of the political spectrum. Despite this, in time the governments and military establishments in both countries were able to create an environment where political expediency led to both cooperation and an eventual alliance. Western democracies found both systems repellent but the two countries, Germany and the Soviet Union, embodied vast resources of, in the case of the Soviets, raw materials and, in the case of Germany, huge intellectual, scientific and indust...
This shocking book is sure to confound conservatives, irritate libertarians, and puzzle leftists alike. Author Nevin Gussack details the communist strategy behind the manipulation of American conservatives, libertarians, and Republicans. Sowing the Seeds of Our Destruction is the first comprehensive and devastating treatment of how powerful elements of the American "conservative" and libertarian movements provided intellectual support to Russia, Red China, and other communist countries. The splits within the conservative movement and Republican Party over the naive and appeasement-minded approach to the USSR and Red China are covered at length. American big business also played an immense ro...
Author Nevin Gussack takes the controversial stance that the German Nazis represented an unorthodox brand of socialism. Nevin traces the intellectual origins of the Third Reich's socialism from the "War Socialism" of World War I to the ideological roots of the early German Nazi movement. The Party's interventions in the private economy are also documented at length in this book. The motivations behind the support provided by foreign and domestic capitalists to the Nazi movement are discussed, along with Berlin's predatory trade practices targeted against the American market. The trade practices and the strategic use of foreign and domestic bankers by the Nazis bore more than a passing similarity to the experience of various communist countries such as contemporary China. The Nazi War Against Capitalism is an important, detailed contribution to the discussion about the nature of Nazi economic policy.
During the Cold War, East Germany planned for an eventual Red Dawn scenario directed at its neighbor and enemy West Germany. Based on declassified East German and Warsaw Pact archives, author Nevin Gussack explores East Berlin's war and occupation plans for their brethren in the West. East Germany also launched subversive operations against their brethren in the West, which included support for the local communist party, leftwing groups, and the peace movement; lobbying greedy industrialists and CSU/CDU politicians; and support for terrorist groups such as the Red Army Faction/Baader Meinhof Gang. Even more disturbing was East Berlin's sheltering and usage of ex-Nazis and support for pro-Soviet West German neo-Nazis. East Germany's relations with Nazism belied its anti-fascist, humanist image and revealed its Prussian, militarist core. The Red Prussians is an excellent companion to Nevin's book Red Dawn in Retrospect.
