State, Policy and Conflicts in Northeast India
This book discusses the history of unrest and conflict in Northeast India from 1947 to the present day. A perceptive study on public policy and its delivery in the region, the volume highlights that a crisis of governance, security and development has emerged in the Northeast because of the way various government institutions and agencies have been functioning in the area. It uses case studies to illumine conflict dynamics in the two erstwhile princely states of Manipur and Tripura, along with in-depth discussions on Assam and Nagaland. Drawing upon major policy documents, on-the-ground experience and rare insight, the book examines centre–state relations, the armed forces, special acts, human rights and larger policy-level questions confronting the region. Separatism in North-East India
It is a constant refrain from various political leaders that religion and politics should not be mixed together. Notwithstanding this sloganeering, what we find in real life is often quite opposite. The author Kunal Ghosh, connotes on two North-East regions, Tripura and the BAC (Bodo Autonomous Council) area in Assam where a mixture of religion and politics has produced an explosive situation. If religion can be tied up with language and linguistics it would acquire a direct hold on nationality. Signals In The 1962 War
This book deals with the role of the Corps of Signals of the Indian Army during the Sino-Indian War of 1962. Based on their personal experiences, excellent accounts have been written by two Signals officers, Major General KK Tewari and Brigadier Lakshman Singh. However these cover mainly the operations in the Kameng Frontier Division of NEFA. The operations in the Walong Sector and Ladakh do not form part of their narratives. The official history of the Corps of Signals also does not cover these operations. This book aims to fill this gap and acquaint the public and the present generation of signallers with the achievements of their forebears, who had worked under trying circumstances to provide communications in 1962, many of them sacrificing their lives.
