This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the First Annual International Conference on Wireless Algorithms, Systems, and Applications, WASA 2006, held in Xi'an, China in August 2006. The book presents 63 revised full papers together with 2 invited keynote speech abstracts, organized in topical sections on wireless PAN and wireless LAN, wireless MAN and pervasive computing, data management, mobility, localization and topology control, performance modeling and analysis, security and more.
This volume contains the proceedings from the workshops held in conjunction with the IEEE International Parallel and Distributed Processing Symposium, IPDPS 2000, on 1-5 May 2000 in Cancun, Mexico. The workshopsprovidea forum for bringing together researchers,practiti- ers, and designers from various backgrounds to discuss the state of the art in parallelism.Theyfocusondi erentaspectsofparallelism, fromruntimesystems to formal methods, from optics to irregular problems, from biology to networks of personal computers, from embedded systems to programming environments; the following workshops are represented in this volume: { Workshop on Personal Computer Based Networks of Workstations { Worksh...
This volume presents the proceedings of the 6th International ICST Conference on Heterogeneous Networking for Quality, Reliability, Security and Robustness and of the Third International ICST Workshop on Advanced Architectures and Algorithms for Internet DElivery and Applications. Both events were held in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in November 2009. To each of these events is devoted a specific part of the volume. The first part is dedicated to the proceedings of ICST QShine 2009. The first four chapters deal with new issues concerning the quality of service in IP-based telephony and multimedia. A second set of four chapters addresses some important research problems in mul- hop wireless net...
Recent advances in mobile and wireless communication and personal computer technology have created a new paradigm for information processing. Today, mobile and wireless communications exit in many forms, providing different types of services. Existing forms of mobile and wireless communications continue to experience rapid growth and new applications and approaches are being spawned at an increasing rate. Recently, the mobile and wireless Internet has become one of the most important issues in the telecommunications arena. The development of the mobile and wireless Internet is the evolution of several different technologies coming together to make the Internet more accessible. Technologies s...
As future generation information technology (FGIT) becomes specialized and fr- mented, it is easy to lose sight that many topics in FGIT have common threads and, because of this, advances in one discipline may be transmitted to others. Presentation of recent results obtained in different disciplines encourages this interchange for the advancement of FGIT as a whole. Of particular interest are hybrid solutions that c- bine ideas taken from multiple disciplines in order to achieve something more signi- cant than the sum of the individual parts. Through such hybrid philosophy, a new principle can be discovered, which has the propensity to propagate throughout mul- faceted disciplines. FGIT 2009...
This book brings together a number of papers that represent seminal contributions underlying mobile and wireless network security and privacy. It provides a foundation for implementation and standardization as well as further research. The diverse topics and protocols described in this book give the reader a good idea of the current state-of-the-art technologies in mobile and wireless network security and privacy.
The workshop on an Infrastructure for Mobile and Wireless Systems was held in Scottsdale, Arizona on October 15, 2001 and was funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and sponsored by the Telecommunications and Information Technology Institute of the College of Engineering at Florida International U- versity (FIU), to establish a common infrastructure for the discipline of mobile and wireless networking, and to serve its rapidly emerging mobile and wireless community of researchers and practitioners. The workshop provides a single, cohesive, and high-quality forum for disseminating research and experience in this emerging ?eld. Of signi?cance is the integration of many diverse com- ni...
Welcome to the proceedings of the 2010 International Conferences on Signal Proce- ing, Image Processing and Pattern Recognition (SIP 2010), and Multimedia, C- puter Graphics and Broadcasting (MulGraB 2010) – two of the partnering events of the Second International Mega-Conference on Future Generation Information Te- nology (FGIT 2010). SIP and MulGraB bring together researchers from academia and industry as well as practitioners to share ideas, problems and solutions relating to the multifaceted - pects of image, signal, and multimedia processing, including their links to compu- tional sciences, mathematics and information technology. In total, 1,630 papers were submitted to FGIT 2010 from...
The two volume set, CCIS 262 and 263, constitutes the refereed proceedings of the International Conference, MulGraB 2011, held as Part of the Future Generation Information Technology Conference, FGIT 2011, in conjunction with GDC 2011, Jeju Island, Korea, in December 2011. The papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from numerous submissions and focuse on the various aspects of multimedia, computer graphics and broadcasting.
Although governments worldwide have invested significantly in intelligent sensor network research and applications, few books cover intelligent sensor networks from a machine learning and signal processing perspective. Filling this void, Intelligent Sensor Networks: The Integration of Sensor Networks, Signal Processing and Machine Learning focuses on the close integration of sensing, networking, and smart signal processing via machine learning. Based on the world-class research of award-winning authors, the book provides a firm grounding in the fundamentals of intelligent sensor networks, including compressive sensing and sampling, distributed signal processing, and intelligent signal learni...
