The Body of Christ

In chapter 12 of his first letter to the Corinthian church, the apostle Paul writes that we are "the Body of Christ, and members individually" (vs. 27). Consider your own body. Your liver looks and operates very differently from your pancreas or your stomach. A person has only one body, but it has many parts that still make up just one body. The Body of Christ is like that too (vs. 12). If the whole body were an eye, it would not be able to hear. If the whole body were an ear, it would not be able to smell anything (vs. 17). Lost Heritage

During construction of the Tennessee Valley Authority Watauga Dam, TVA workers roamed the valley and interviewed the land owners and other residents prior to their homes and property being taken over by the Tennessee Valley Authority. Those reports constituted an account of the people, the valley, and the time. This compilation is a documentation of the people of old Butler and the Watauga Valley from those TVA records—and from people who hold fond, romantic memories of that place and time. It documents old Butler and surrounding communities of the Watauga Valley that were inundated, institutions that were moved or destroyed, and families that were displaced or otherwise affected by construction of the TVA Watauga Dam.

Q & A On The Authenticity Of Signs, Wonders And Miracles Today!

Many cessationists have assumed that Jesus healed and delivered and passed that ability on to the 12 apostles not because He loved the people, but because He was trying to attract them out of Judaism into the New Testament religion. So then, after they joined up and the church was established, He withdrew those gifts. (In retail sales, it's called bait and switch. In the most basic sense, the strategy behind "bait and switch" is simple: throw alluring bait to the public, and when the public is successfully lured in, switch the bait to something more profitable for the producers.) That's not at all descriptive of our God. What do you think? Is that how you view your relationship with Jesus or of the Father or of the Holy Spirit? Check out this brief overview of historical evidence of the Holy Spirit's activity since Pentecost.
